Thought the tag fit well. ANYWAYS.
Friend's flying out for a family reunion over the weekend, and was 3 hours early, so we talked Punk's promo and how WWE needs to bring their unpredictability back, leading to talking about Cena's return to the '08 Rumble. I'm watching it on repeat as I'm typing. The pops, man. I'm pretty sure I heard even the wrestlers didn't know he was there.

I don't think it's WWE's fault sometimes that it's not unpredictable. It's just that it's hard to keep things a surprise now a days.

It's the fault of dirtsheets as well, but at the same time, while Cena's return wasn't recent, it still wasn't THAT long ago. I'm just saying it's possible to hide things if WWE takes other measures. Punk's promo from Monday, for example. There's other ways of doing things, and whether it's The Rock's return, Punk's promo, or hell, even the original Nexus, there's always a way to "shake things up" without the dirtsheets picking it up. EDIT: Yes, I know rumors were flying about The Rock's return, but the woman's feet from the limo was clever in turning the attention away to still surprise people.

With the Kings of Wrestling signing soon and "Ring of Honor" officially a recognized entity, how about an invasion angle? You could have Punk bring in Hero, Claudio, and Tyler Black, all while trying to convince Danielson and Bourne that "they deserve their chance to shine".
There's my super Indy geek fantasy booking for the day.

It definitely seems like a legit theory.

They offered Punk a movie, and he still said no. Punk REALLY doesn't want to be there.

What a shame. That would've been the only WWE movie I'd ever consider watching... 2 weeks after it's theatrical release... on Netflix instant queue.
