TITANFALL... that is all. COD:MW meets Halo meets District 9. I want it!

Well. That was a very good conference compared to years past. Now that Microsoft has a destination of where they want to take their console, we saw games that looked very good & could be fun to play, but to me everything was overshadowed by it’s price point. But, before I get to that, here is what I thought of everything announced during Microsoft’s conference:
1. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain on Xbox One looks spectacular. Open worlds, better CQC, more dynamic ways to utilize stealth makes this entry in the MGS series very different from those in the past. The game also has real time weather and multiple vehicle options. I think it’s a nice change of pace for the series considering the games feel almost identical except for a change here and there, but MGS purists might feel differently and not feel welcome to the changes much like Splinter Cell fans. But, time will tell if these changes hurt of help the game.
2. New Xbox 360 model It will be quieter & smaller to boot, so it’s pretty much like every console revision ever. It also resembles the Xbox One, for some unknown reason. I currently don’t own a 360, so if this model is cheaper then I will gladly pick one up but with no announcement of one, then I’m assuming it’s going to retail at the same price which would be a bummer. There will also be a Playstation Plus-like model that will give gamers 2 free games until the release of the Xbox One, which is awesome. The first two will be Assassin’s Creed II & Halo 3. Hopefully we will get some more current released games as part of the deal as well, which starts July 1st.
3. World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition. Never played it..
4. Ryse: Son of Rome has some promise but something about it doesn’t say it’s a next generation game. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it still feels like an Xbox 360 game ported to Xbox One without utilizing anything but better controls. I do like the idea of the game, but not enough to say I am going to buy an Xbox One for Ryse.
5. Killer Instinct. Yay? I’m glad that it’s back, but I didn’t get anything from it. Maybe that’s that point?
6. Sunset Overdrive looks bonkers! I love Insomniac, but even I have to say that they haven’t had the best track record as of late. The Resistence series never caught on for me, Fuse was very bland and generic, and Ratchet & Clank started to slow down creative wise as soon as it made the jump to next gen (though “A Crack in Time” was pretty darn good) so I understand that Insomniac might not have the same clout as it once did but Sunset Overdrive will hopefully change that.
7. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. Never played it either.
8. D4 looks...well...it looks good? The trailer was so brief that the only thing I got from it was it’s art style and that it’s a episodic murder-mystery. I can’t really say any more than that.
9. Project Spark is an interesting idea. It resembles LBP in that the game is driven on user created content, and that you will be able to build game genres such as action-adventure & shoot em ups. You will be able to create using either the Kinect or Smartglass app, though I’m thinking the app will be the preferred way to do so. Even though no release date was announced, it has potential, I just hope there is enough of an install base for the Xbox One that when it does come out, there will be enough players to create & share their content and bring this game to life.
10. Speaking of Smartglass, you will be able to do a whole slew of features on it though Xbox One. You will be able to matchmake in one game, while playing another and when it’s done, you will be notified and switch over in real time. You will also be able to use a video editing feature called Xbox Upload Studio, that will enable you to edit your footage and upload it to the interwebs. I don’t know how often I will be using both Smartglass and Xbox Upload, but it’s nice that it’s there.
11. No more Microsoft Points on Xbox One as they will be switching over to real currency. FINALLY.
12. Crimson Dragon looks great, just wished I was able to actually hear the trailer. Coming from the creator of Panzer Dragoon, this game has a lot going for it. I don’t know if this will be a Kinect-only game or not, but the way it moves proves to be otherwise. Hopefully, this version of Kinect will be able to work properly because Crimson Dragon shows a lot of promise.
13. Twitch is integrated into Xbox One. Sweet.
14. Dead Rising 3. I did not expect that at all. Feels good to be surprised every once and awhile. The tone of the game is very different for a Dead Rising game, which might turn some people off, but as soon as I saw the saw/sledgehammer combo, I felt ok with them taking the game into this direction. The fact that it’s coming out this holiday is also a pretty big surprise. We'll see if this gamble works out for Dead Rising 3.
15. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt looks breathtaking. Despite not playing any of the Witcher games previously, I do really want to play Wild Hunt.
16. Battlefield 4 is a FPS. Looks good, but it’s pretty much standard FPS flare.
17. Black Tusk’s AAA game, for the 10 seconds that they showed, looks...umm...good?
18. Below is a game I am very interested in. I always enjoy games that kind of veer off from the norm and do something new. I just have the feeling though that Below is going to be multiplatform though.
19. Xbox One - $500. No. Just no. I cannot convince myself to spend $500 (probably $550 with taxes) on anything I saw even though I would like to play some of them at a later point. I just feel like Microsoft wanted to appeal to a mass crowd that would utilize the TV features, and then buy games on the side. At that price, no one is going to drop that kind of money unless your product has an Apple logo on the back. I even think the truly hardcore Microsoft fan is going to be iffy on dropping that kind of money day one. I think they shot themselves in the foot launching it at $500 (for the record I thought it would go for $450).
20. Titanfall looks phenomenal. I’m not the biggest FPS fan, but Titanfall might bring me back in the ringer. Mechs! Jetpacks! You already have me Respawn. It is coming to PC & 360 though, so I may or may not have to buy an XBONE (I’ve been wanting to use that abbreviation for a while, felt like it was appropriate here.)
21. Halo. It’s Halo alright. Where do you go with the series? It’s in need of some kind of shake up in terms of gameplay & story. Hopefully it happens.
In closing, while I did think some of the games were truly beautiful, I just can’t get over the price point. Considering the policies that are in place, they really needed to convince people that the price point is justifiable, and I felt like they unfortunately didn’t do that. Sure, alot of games looked really good but most of them are going to be available on PC or the Xbox 360 so why would I spend $500 if I can just buy the game on the console I already own (well not me but I know a lot of you guys do).

Nothing I've seen yet has convinced me I need to get a PS4 or Xbox One at launch. The games I'm looking forward to this fall (GTA V, Arkham Origins, & Watch_Dogs) are all going to be available for current gen. The one next gen-only game that I absolutely want (TitanFall) doesn't come out until spring.
$500 is very steep, but that's what Apple charges for their annual iphones/pads/pods & those devices can't even do a fraction of what the XBONE can. I'm guessing the PS4 will have a similar price point.
I thought Ryse looked great... up until the freaking quick time events. QTE's should've died a long time ago.
I wanna be excited for Sunset Overdrive, but this is exactly the shit Insomniac pulled with Overstrike/Fuse. Overstrike's debut CG trailer looked like it could be a fun game. Then they turned it into Fuse, a generic cover based shooter.
Forza 5 looks nice, but I'm not into the sim racing genre. I was more impressed by Need for Speed Rivals at the EA conference.

Titanfall is coming to 360 & PC too. Would you be willing to pay $500 for one game? I mean, I'm not saying that in a bad way because if you're willing too I'm not gonna say you is dumb or anything because I'm leaning that way too but if all else fails I can just go get a 360, which is still $300 for some reason. Why is it still that price? Jeez. But people see the value in owning an Apple device and are now trained to upgrade their devices when the new one comes out. I don't think Microsoft has that same strategy with any of their products (outside of Windows) so it's going to be hard to convince the casual/dude bro players who only get one or two games a year? Yeah, QTE needs to just go away. I think EA had more to do with how Fuse ended up being than Insomniac. But, at the end of the day, Insomniac put out a generic title so yeah, I can see what you're saying.

TitanFall is coming out for 360 too? I missed that. No, I wouldn't spend $500 on a new console just for one game. Hopefully by spring 2014, there will be more than just TitanFall that I'm interested in. 360 is $200 new, by the way. It's only more if you want a Kinect & big HDD. Also, today has really made me miss G4. All the people on Spike/GTTV are annoying as fuck. I miss Adam & Morgan.

Sony could have buried Microsoft, but this has been a train wreck so far. Bashes Microsoft for TV and Movies, spends 15 minutes talking about how you can watch TV and Movies on the PS4.

Looks like the PS4 couldn't handle Black Flag. lol... PS4 couldn't handle AC4 & Xbox One couldn't load Battlefield 4. Watch_Dogs continues to amaze me with every bit of new footage they show. A Mad Max game?!?! Yes, please! Destiny is pretty & looks fun. *please don't have the Halo control scheme* No used game restrictions & no need for online check-ins every 24 hours for PS4... Take that Microsoft. You now need a PS+ membership to play multiplayer games on PS4... Take that Sony fan boys. Aaaaaaaaaaaand the PS4 is $399... Microsoft, consider yourself undercut.

By the time after the initial install, what will you have left? 3GB? 2.5? Because I know when I got my PS3 320GB, it was down to about 316-314 after the initial boot-up.

Titanfall, Watch_Dogs, MGS V, AC4 and Arkham Origins are coming to 360 and I was never going to get a next gen until a price drop so I'm good. Looking forward to more games demos in the coming days though.

I'm sure you could find a larger HDD on ebay or amazon for cheap, though. Just saw The Division from Ubisoft/Tom Clancy. Wow! That game looks cool as fuck. Can't wait to see more of it.

Just saw The Division from Ubisoft/Tom Clancy. Wow! That game looks cool as fuck. Can't wait to see more of it. Yeah I'm catching up on all the trailers that came out and got a chance to watch the gameplay for The Division. Yeah, I'm eagerly awaiting that title. I don't think I've left my thoughts about the Sony conference, so I'll just say it was the exact opposite feeling I had watching Microsoft's. They needed to establish to not only the gamers, but to the public that this is going to be a gaming console first and foremost and I think the accomplished that. Sony needed to come out running during the start of this console generation, and they totally did that. Nintendo's was...well Nintendo. I wasn't able to fully watch it during the live showing because the video feed was getting hammered with traffic so I waited until the trailers went online and I will say that the games showed looked great and will be a blast to play, but aside from Bayonetta 2 & The Wonderful 101, Nintendo seems to be playing it safe when it comes to their first party games. I know right now isn't the time to be taking risks with their titles, but I just wish they would try and do something new and fresh with the direction their main pillars are going into. Like I said, I will most definitely be picking them up and enjoying them very much, I just want them to shake things up a bit.

I'm just glad my WiiU will have some games finally.
XBONE- The games looked great, Quantum Break (from the guys that made Alan Wake) looks interesting enough and Titanfall looked amazing. I would buy the system just for those two games, but with the price being as high as $500 I may wait til a price cut and or remodel because most of the next gen stuff comes out so buggy out of the box(My WiiU froze and lagged so bad when I first got it last year, after the patch fix it worked fine). I could do without the whole kinect stuff.
PS4- Well, the price and games certainly look very appealing. But like most of you said, the games will be on current gen consoles so I may wait on this one as well.
WiiU- I was worried that Nintendo would just sort of cram in as many games as it could into E3 and I was right. The WiiU (from my perspective) will have at least 1 to 2 games to buy from here til March of next year. The good thing about that is now WiiU owners finally have something to play and Nintendo is making everyone happy. The bad news? Well, what about year 3? Nintendo is notorious for going with long droughts of not releasing any quality games and sort of dumping a bunch of games on our laps to binge upon. What happens when this well dries up? Does the WiiU hit another drought into year 4? 5? If Nintendo is giving us this many sequels this early they may have to add more number to certain franchises (Smash, Kart) than they normally do. Smash in particular could benefit greatly from having DLC characters introduced but I'm not sure how on board Nintendo is with on DLC.
XBONE- Titanfall PS4- Destiny WiiU- Super Mario 3D World
