*8/14 is the final show of the series Please tell me that's supposed to be season?! I would assume it's a typo. They just renewed for a second season, and the ratings have been really impressive.

Goto beat Nakamura for the IC title over the weekend. I haven't seen the match yet (or MAKABE VS ISHII!) so I have some catching up to do this weekend.

I know it's to give him a break to heal up, but man it's such a waste of time pairing Tanahashi with Toru Yano. This feud has gone on for way too long.

But the fact that so many other people are already feuding with each other it kinda makes sense that you have these guys keep fighting in the mean time.

I watched the S2 premiere of NJPW on AXS and they showed the final for BOSJ from last year between KUSHIDA vs Ricochet. I had not seen the match so I had no idea what I was going to expect. Hot damn did they have a great match! Ranallo & Barnett called the match great as well. I'm really happy NJPW on AXS is back.

I know it's to give him a break to heal up, but man it's such a waste of time pairing Tanahashi with Toru Yano. This feud has gone on for way too long. Better than putting him with someone else. Tana's so overrated. Certainly not bad, but he hasn't had an original match in years. Copy + paste spots with anyone and everyone. His work with the Americans lately has been fun, though (especially my boy Roddy), so that's good. And Yano's super enjoyable in any role. But you guys like Barnett and Ranallo? I like Barnett on is own, definitely one of the better talkers in MMA, at least as far as fighters go, but he's not real charismatic or anything when he's reading lines. I just don't know that he's comfortable in this role. Ranallo's got serious chops as a commentator, but he's such a straight man and isn't super knowledgeable on puro past what he's being fed (at least to my knowledge, and from what it appears like on TV). He's just too bland for me, especially since Barnett isn't bringing that much color into it. Wish they got someone with more character in there. I'd really love someone like Bas Rutten or even Don Frye, as crazy as that'd be.

I just really don't care for the guy. Even with Tanahashi being overrated and not bringing much new to the table, pairing him with Yano seems like such a waste of time and money that they've put into him over the last decade. If he really needs time off to heal up, let someone like Okada, Nakamura, or Ibushi put him out for a few months. I really enjoy Barnett. Still, I feel he definitely needs someone there who's a little more energetic to play off of him. My opinions on Ranallo change depending on my mood. Sometimes I really enjoy him, and other times the sound of his voice really irritates me. Don Frye is an incredible suggestion!

In my mind he's the best commentator in combat sports, doesn't matter if he's calling boxing, mma, or pro wrestling. Barnett is okay, I don't mind him. I don't know what Don Frye would bring to commentary. Also I like Bas but I don't know if you've heard his commentary because he's really bad. He was on commentary for the last Metamoris show a couple of weeks ago and he didn't do so well.
