I love Mauro, he's a lot more knowledgeable than you're giving him credit. In my mind he's the best commentator in combat sports, doesn't matter if he's calling boxing, mma, or pro wrestling. Barnett is okay, I don't mind him. I don't know what Don Frye would bring to commentary. Also I like Bas but I don't know if you've heard his commentary because he's really bad. He was on commentary for the last Metamoris show a couple of weeks ago and he didn't do so well. Yeah, I'm not knocking Mauro's knowledge in general, because the dude is obviously super up on things in multiple sports. I'm just not sure if this particular sliver of pro wrestling is his forte. Most of Bas' commentary I've heard is from years and years ago, so yeah, I've got nothing on what he's like today. Bummed to hear he's not as enjoyable these days.

Night 2 of the G1 Climax 25 continues tomorrow morning. Night 1 ended with 2 terrific matches and this show looks to be solid. Here is the lineup:
- Satoshi Kojima vs. Tomohiro Ishii
- Hirooki Goto vs. Yujiro Takahashi
- Yuji Nagata vs. Tomoaki Honma
- Kazuchika Okada vs. Michael Elgin
- Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Karl Anderson
- Tiger Mask & Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Jay White & Yohei Komatsu
- Captain New Japan, Kota Ibushi & Togi Makabe vs. Cody Hall, Doc Gallows & Bad Luck Fale
- YOSHI-HASHI & Toru Yano vs. Tama Tonga & A.J. Styles
- Mascara Dorada, Tetsuya Naito & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Ryusuke Taguchi, Katsuyori Shibata & Hiroyoshi Tenzan
Matches & wrestlers to keep an eye on:
- Kojima vs Ishii is interesting because Ishii has been on a downward trend going into the G1. Losing both his feud against Togi Makabe & the NEVER championship, we'll know where he fits in the fold as we start to get closer to Wrestle Kingdom. Will he have a strong showing and be the next in line to challenge Hirooki Goto for the Intercontinental Championship or will this be the sign that they have no plans for him at this time and he's just kind of there in the middle of the card. Don't sleep on Kojima, he is a constant for New Japan and always delivers when he's needed to and this match will be no exception. Should be an exciting match.
- Michael Elgin has a lot to prove not only in the G1 tournament but also in his first match tonight against Okada. Many think this is his only opportunity to really shine and become a more active member of the roster for the years to come. If he doesn't have a good showing in this match, then the writing is on the wall for his future with NJPW. With that in mind, I think he's gonna go all out in this match. This will be his first singles match against Okada so it's quite the uphill challenge for him.
- Nakamura vs Anderson will likely have the outcome that we all think that it will, but it should be a fantastic match. I prefer Anderson as a singles wrestler, and feel like him & Gallows has run it's course and it's time to change things up in the tag team division.

None of the matches scream "must see" to me. I'm still in awe of how Elgin was chosen over someone like Roddy.

Best case is He has great matches.
