SS Press
Induction by AD
His given name is Felipe Diaz-Vera. On podcasts, for some reason, he was called Frank. And on the boards he was known as SS Press. But no matter which name you prefer the one thing that everybody agrees on is that he is one of the nicest and most lovable characters to have ever made his mark on this community. And a pretty darn talented editor to boot.
I think one of the best compliments you can give someone in any creative endeavor is to say that they were an original. And that was definitely true of SSP as an editor. He always did his own thing. In some of his better videos, like his Chris Hero or Age of the Fall videos, he used techniques that I honestly can't recall ever seeing in any other video. But even when he wasn't re-inventing the wheel you always knew an SSP video was going to be fun, entertaining, and unique.
He also put in more than his share of time on the administrative side of the community. In addition to doing whatever it is that the admins do around here he spent time in the thankless role of head booker. He no doubt spent many hours organizing cards that would make everybody happy, and then dealing with all the whining that ensues when people aren't satisfied with their spot on said cards. And then reorganizing those cards to compensate for all the dropouts and no-shows. It's about time we thanked him for that, isn't it?
But as good as he was at making music videos, and as much as we all appreciate the work he put into running the boards, I think it's probably his personality that most people remember fondest. There's not a person who was around during the same era as SSP that doesn't have fond memories of the guy. Whether he was making us laugh while hosting Zone V, giving us feedback that was always helpful and never cruel, or just being an all-around good guy in his everyday activities on the forum. There's no doubt that everybody who remembers him feels like this community has an SSP-shaped hole in it's collective heart since his departure from regular activity on the boards.
But now he's in the Hall of Fame. Right where he belongs.
