How are you guys not tired of looking at those ugly ass decade old graphics from Nintendo yet?
Kirby & Donkey Kong looked good though (especially Kirby).
Like flammable said, it's about having fun and having good gameplay.
Gameplay > Graphics.
It's funny when big budget titles having everything going for it, but gameplay. It's like, where did all that money go? You can't buy gameplay.

At that point, I was very happy with the conference overall. That's when they dropped the big one. They announced Donkey Kong Country: Returns!!! I was just completely blown away that not only they kept it a secret this long without it getting out until this past sunday night. The game looks amazing. Graphics are lush and gorgeous, it's side scrolling, and we won't have to wait too long to get it. It comes out this fall! YES!!!!When I read this, I nearly cried.
Donkey Kong Country was one of the games I adored growing up.
I'm really regretting giving my mom the Wii.
EDIT: THE TWISTED METAL REMAKE RUMORS ARE TRUE!
FUCK YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
As soon as I started to hear the DKC Level One theme, I just started screaming with excitement. It's been too long since DK has been in a game that didn't involve bongos or kart-like racing. This reassured us fans that DK hasn't been forgotten.
Well. The Sony conference just ended and it was ok. Alot of the things they showed we knew about, except for 2 fairly huge bombshells.
But, before I get into that. Can I make a comment on how shitty G4's coverage of E3 is. Was it just me or was the picture and audio just off sometimes? They're was times in the Nintendo Conference where the video just went to black and then came back halfway. I know it's live TV, but c'mon. And why isn't it in HD?! They're is no excuse for that.
OK. I'm done ranting. Onto the conference.
It started off with alot of talk about 3D and how the PS3 would have 20 titles available by March 2011 in full 3D. Since I don't have a 3D TV, I could care less, but to those who do, there you go.
They went into a demo of Killzone 3. They demoed the use of the 3D tech to those in the audience by giving them a pair of glasses to show that the game was built from the ground up in 3D and not something that was tacked on. I can't comment on that because the view we got of the game was kinda blurry and had the blue/red/green lines over everything. I don't know why they didn't just show us the game in a regular feed and show everyone there something different. Just boggles me. Anyway, the game does look faster than Killzone 2, and they showed off some helicopter level which looked fun. The game will be released in February 2011 and will support the Move.
Here's something that I'll just hit on really quick. Sony will be releasing a Sly Cooper Collection on PS3. They didn't say anything specific on it, but I'm assuming it's going to be the same thing as the God of War Collection released a couple of months back, HD Support, Trophies, etc. Plus it's in 3D. No release date was given.
Then we got into the Move part of the conference. I wasn't really paying attention since I was eating, but it's the usual showcase of mini-games, party games, etc. I wasn't paying too much attention to it. The Move will be released on Sept. 19. The controller will be $50, a bundle with the controller, the nunchuk like controller & the Playstation Eye for $100, and a bundle with the system, controller & the eye, but I didn't catch how much it would be.
One Move game that looked cool was Heroes of the Move, which stars the characters from Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank & Jak and Daxter. It didn't say what the game would be about, but it looks to stay true to what those three games are all about. Platforming, collecting items, etc. No release date was given, but that's one game I'm looking forward too on the move.
Then we get to the PSP portion of the conference. I thought we might be hearing something on the PSP2 or some kind of successor, but nothing. They did announce God of War: Ghosts of Sparta. Which looks to be a prequel to the whole trilogy. They also showed Patapon 3 and a game that I have no clue of but am very intrigued of which is The Third Birthday.
When then got a live demo of Little Big Planet 2 that showcased the various game genres you can create within the game, which btw is very vast. You can also create you own music within the game as well. This is making the game that much better to me, I'm really going to take advantage of the tools this game presents when it's released later this year.
We also finally found out the details of the new PSN subscription plan called Playstation Network Plus. For $50 a year, you get early demos & beta access. It also gives you free games from the PSN & PS1 catalog, and more. This doesn't replace the already free service.
EA then had a segment where they showed off Medal of Honor and Dead Space 2. Both look really cool, especially Medal of Honor. I had no interest in playing it at all, but when I saw the multiplayer aspect, which they're collaborating with Dice on, really changed my opinion. They also announced exclusive Limited Editions to both games. Medal of Honor will come with a HD remake of MoH: Frontline, which is cool & Dead Space 2 will come with an HD remake of Extraction, which was released last year on the Wii. It will have Move support as well. Those limited editions will be exclusive to PS3.
One of the fairly huge bombshells came from a very unlikely source. Valve's Gabe Newell came on stage and said that Portal 2 was coming to the PS3. I was really shocked especially since the public flogging Gabe put on the PS3 awhile back. But, I guess all is well with Valve & PS. He also said that this version of Portal 2 will be the best version of Portal on any console. Hmm.
Then we got a Final Fantasy XIV trailer. Doesn't show gameplay, just a cinematic. Eh. We also got a Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood trailer that showcased the game really well. They're will be exclusive content on PS3 as well. I think it was mission packs or something along those lines. The game looks great though.
We then got a Gran Turismo 5 trailer, and it will finally see the light of day on November 2nd. It will also support 3D at launch. Also got an inFamous 2trailer, which comes out on 2011. Haven't played the first one, so I can't comment too much on it.
The show closed with the second bombshell, which was a trailer to Twisted Metal! The game David Jaffe said he wasn't making, turns out he was! It looks like a downloadable title, but I could be wrong. The game looks to be going back to it's original roots on the Playstation which an arcade blow shit up mentality instead of the dark turn it did with Black, which was one of my favorite games for the PS2.
All in all, it was an ok conference. It just showed us the games that was coming this year and what's coming up later.
It was clear though that nothing was going to top the Nintendo conference. Nothing.
BTW, how awesome is Kevin Butler. That guy is gold I tell you. GOLD.
