Finally watched Atlanta this week and I'm officially hooked! I was hesitant at first because I never really liked Donald Glover in anything before. But word of mouth was so strong I finally decided to take the plunge. Ended up watching the whole season in two nights. Would've gone through it all in one night if I'd started earlier. Darius is a great character. Do black people really not know who Steve McQueen is?
Also want to mention how much I'm loving the final season of Rectify so far. It's one of the most perpetually underrated shows in tv history. Completely unlike anything else on tv right now. It can be slow at times. But if you stick with it the meditative pace really pays off. This season's premiere is one of my favorite episodes of any tv show, ever.

The first season of Westworld was fantastic. Been a while since a show challenged me intellectually. At first its hard to digest, but the last episodes bring it all together and you end up wanting more. The cast is amazing. Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, and Ed Harris absolutely kill it. Definitely recommend it to the resident TV aficionados here. SAMURAI WORLD next season please!

And she's from Raleigh... Woot Woot!

Just got done watching the premiere of Legion, and I must say it was pretty fucking awesome. I honestly can't remember the last time I was this excited by any kind of superhero/comic book type property. I enjoyed the first season of Preacher quite a bit, but after just one episode I'm fairly confident in saying that this show is operating on an entirely different level. It's tonally, structurally, and stylistically playful in ways that even the best Marvel movies don't have the guts to attempt. (THERE WAS A GODDAMN DANCE SEQUENCE, for crying out loud!!!) And the best part is it's not afraid to let the viewer be confused for stretches of time. I didn't always understand what was happening, but I was always interested in figuring out what was happening.
Taboo has also been pretty great so far. Filled with mysticism, perversity, and intrigue. With those two, The Americans, Fargo, and Feud (which I'm not sold on, but am intrigued by) all returning or debuting relatively soon, FX is threatening to become the only network that I have time to watch.
