Too lazy to post a full movie review and wanna keep it under three words. Add it here. Wanna rant about the netflix prices hikes, add it here. Wanna discuss the new Thing remake? Add it here. Wanna compile lists of must watch movies...Add that somewhere else...this is the random movie thoughts thread!
First up....THE THING PREQUEL(?) not starring Rob Davies.
The trailer looks absolutely dreadful and the cgi makes me cringe...so is anyone gonna watch it?

The Thing is one of the most perfect movies I've ever seen. Doesn't need a remake, reboot, prequel, sequel, or whatever. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I agree. Even though John Carpenter's The Thing is itself a remake, it was done so well that I don't feel there is need to expand the story any further. Their was a recent discussion at some sci-fi convention and they spoke to one of the actors (Keith David) and ask him who he thought was the Thing at the end of the movie. He said he couldn't speak for Kurt, but he knew HIS character wasn't the thing...classic.

Keith David kicks ass!
Speaking of which, they're remaking "They Live," as well. That might actually be my favorite John Carpenter movie. I am, of course, extremely skeptical, but it is one of those ideas that can be updated to fit any political climate. So with the right writer/director it could still be good... maybe... possibly... hopefully... ah, fuck it! It'll suck.

I see they're remaking Total Recall, that kinda sucks. On the other hand, I'm actually ok with them remaking "Straw Dogs". I think the original was before it's time, and it is deserving of the remake.

This thread is quickly becoming the "Bitch About Remakes" thread.
Honestly, at this point it's easier just to name all the older movies that aren't being remade.
What's the over/under on how many years until someone decides to remake The Wizard of Oz as a 3D CGI fest filled with sexual innuendos and stupid pop culture references?
Speaking of such films, as somebody who grew up with The Smurfs, I die a little bit inside every time I see an ad for that new movie.

The trailer just shows lack of...well, everything. Just looked like random scenes put together (Or at least the trailers I've seen) Horrible Bosses was fun I've been DYING to see that. I heard Kevin Spacey did excellent.

Funny you should mention Wizard of Oz because there are or was potentially 3 different versions of the film set to be made. Currently the two going head to head are Robert Zemeckis's version of Wizard of Oz set to use the original 1939 script this is brought to us buy Warner Bros. The other version is from Disney and was/is going to be called OZ: The Great and Powerful wit Robert Downey Jr set to star. www.deadline.com/2010/11/warner-bros-wants-robert-zemeckis-for-wizard-of-oz-remake-based-on-original-script/The other version was something I read online but cannot find a trace of now is a version that was suppose to be a more dark version of Wizard of Oz with Todd McFarlane as a producer....so there's the CGI AND sexual innuendos right there.

So...did anyone catch the Dark Knight Rises teaser? I've only been able to seen low quality versions of it but I think it's not too early to call it the greatest movie ever made.

I wouldn't doubt IMDB is going to be overrun soon enough with people voting for Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 as #1 in the Top 250.
Then again, some of their ratings a bit ridiculous anyways.
EDIT: It was in the 200's yesterday, but it's 78 right now.

Does anybody know the name of the movie about this guy who wants to stop his terrorist neighbor from bombing an FBI building. The neighbor kidnaps his son and he ends up chasing a van supposedly with his son and a bomb into the FBI building. It ends with the whole building exploding because the good guy had a bomb in his trunk and he didn't know it. I saw it on TV a while ago and can't remember the name.
