All very valid points. But also, do we know that rehab was even really needed? I mean often times they do that simply to get the media and public off their back. Take Riley Cooper saying "nigga" in a video that went viral. He went to sensitivity training and etc. Honestly, these things are often publicity stunts because the media has so much effect on the game and team's decisions. If society deems a player unfit to be a part of the NFL/NBA, etc then teams (usually) abide by their ruling; more often than not, because it will cost them money and add unwanted attention if they dont.

I tend to fare on the side of the players and letting them be them. I just look at them as kids who generally have never had money. If you give a 22 year old 10 million dollars, you cant expect him to make good decisions with it unless he's had a good upbringing and been taught how to use it. 8/10 players haven't had that. That's my gripe with society and the media. They put these young adults/kids of this HUGE stage and then scrutinize the hell out of them if they cant live up to their standards.

I definitely understand the argument of "It's their Job". These guys do need to put football ( or whatever their sport is) first. Johnny obviously doesn't understand that concept. But i don't think what they do in their free time should cost them so heavily as it does now. I firmly believe that sports should be evaluated based on how they perform. What they do to get themselves to that point of performance, so long as it is legal and within the rules, is on them.

Edit: I didn't want to sound like someone who is out to rake Manziel over the coals because I don't like him. I do like him. I liked him back at A&M and being an undersized QB means he has a hill to climb no matter what so I root for him in that regard. But what the Browns are doing is showing him that no matter what we tell you, no matter how "disappointed" we are in your off-field activities and "demote" you, you'll eventually get your job back because we did a horrid job the last 10 years trying to find a QB or building a functional team. 


I was curious to see their last 4 games of the season and it isn't exactly going to get easier:

• vs Steelers

The Browns also lost their starting LG & FB for the rest of the season too.

That was hard to watch & both teams looked bad in the end. Sure it was a rivalry game between 2 division foes, but the refs didn't get control of this game from the get-go (nor did they want to because "these teams REALLY hate each other" and letting the Shazier hit on Giovanni Bernard go uncalled set the tone for what ended up happening later in the game. Burfict head-hunting Antonio Brown coming across the middle was disgusting (oh and thanks for the repeated angle of Bryant's head whipping around because I need to see that but if a fight starts we gotta go wide cam for that shit) and Jones's actions afterwards were idiotic.

I was on the road during the final drive and when I heard the call on the radio say he missed it I was in total shock.
