Poor Nam Phan. He beat the bricks off Leonard Garcia for 15 minutes, then got straight up ass raped by the judges.
Props to Joe Rogan for his on-air rants regarding shitty judging, knees on the ground/up kicks, & 12-6 elbows.

I was disappointed that Georges didn't go for the finish, but I'm always down to watch Kos get jabbed to death for 25 minutes. Shields is gonna get worked. I'm sad Oliviera got beat. He made a rookie mistake, but he's young. Hopefully he'll grow from the loss. I was also sad to see Joe "Daddy" get face planted... & by Mac Danzig no less.  Thiago Alves looked great & completely outclassed Doomsday. Now if he could just do that against a top level wrestler. Good win for Bocek. I like watching Hazelett work his submissions though. I hope he doesn't get cut just yet. Pierson/Riddle was entertaining & funny. Riddle was just swinging at air & getting lit up for most of the fight... but he's got heart & a good chin. |

Very pleased overall with that show.
Poirier looked very solid and the Grispi hype train gets derailed. Winner of Hominick - Roop gets shot at Aldo now maybe idk.
Stun Gun - Diaz was a good grappling exhibition.
Marcus Davis gets hendo`d....jesus that was a sick ko from Stephens.
Silva is a mean dude and pretty much raped the shit out of Vera, who will finally get his walking papers
Stann..what can i say...dude was impressive and say what you want but no one has done that to Leben since Anderson.
Maynard - Edgar...god damn i was surprised how awesome this fight was. I was shocked that Edgar made it out alive, let alone coming back to make it a fight.
At the end I had it for Maynard barely with the 10-8 1st then winning the 3rd and 5th rds....but I think the draw is justified in this case....soo close.
No way did Edgar win that 48-46 tho.

Great fuckin' title fight! Frankie looked like Lesnar getting blasted by Cain in that first round. I can't believe he survived (thank god he did) & I can't believe Yves Lavigne didn't stop it (thank god he didn't). I had it 48-47 for Frankie (round 1: 10-8 for Maynard, round 2: 10-9 for Edgar, round 3: 10-10, rounds 4 & 5: 10-9 each for Edgar). I can see how someone could give Gray round 3, but not round 5. Both guys stuffed eachothers takedowns in the fifth, but Frankie just kept landing combos & getting the better of the stand up... 10-9 Frankie easy. I agree, 48-4 6 for Frankie is ridiculous. In my eyes, 48-47 Edgar or a draw are the only reasonable decisions. Whatever fight they end up doing next (Edgar/Maynard III or Edgar/Pettis) should be sick & I can't wait! Stann looked good taking out Leben. Vera underwhelms yet again. Anybody remember when he said he was gonna hold both the heavyweight & light heavyweight titles? HA! Thiago looked great, but it's hard to look bad against Vera these days. Nate Diaz probably should have won his fight tonight, but I can't complain too much. No judge is gonna give you a round when you spend it on your back, no matter how many submissions you attempt. Nate's too small for the UFC. Too many big wrestlers in the 155 & 170 divisions. He'd probably be the #2 non-UFC welterweight, though... only second to his brother. Guida schooled Gomi. Gomi looked lost. Clay's transition into the guillotine was slick. Hopefully Gomi gets another fight in the UFC... preferably someone who will stand right in front of him & bang. Still loves me some Fireball Kid. Lil' Heathen Hendo/Bispingin' The Irish Hand Grenade was awesome! Yep, Grispi's hype train was derailed big time tonight. Poirier worked him... Aldo would have killed him. Always happy to see Phil Baroni lose. Enjoy your pink slip, NYBA. Daniel Roberts' kimura on Greg Soto was very impressive. By the way... Machida vs Couture @ UFC 129 in Toronto! |
