So I ran into one of these on another board ( I was just forum lurking, I promise!) and I ran into one of these types of threads, I know alot of us play video games and feel this would be a great way to get some conversation started. The only criteria is the game has to be from the 90s. So have at it! Pokemon (1998)
Pokemon has become a worldwide phenomenon that is still going strong today and it all started with this little guy. The Pokemon hysteria kicked off because of Pikachu and Gamefreaks and Nintendo decided to make a special version of the game that followed the just as popular cartoon. I caught onto the craze a year after it's inception and this was the first game I ever bought on the gameboy and it's still my favorite. This game wasn't too different than the other versions (Blue, Red, Green) other than slight graphical upgrades and the ability to see how Pikachu felt during your journey to becoming the Pokemon Master. I remember playing this game for days on end and trading Pokemon with my friends during lunch at school. This was the height of the Pokemon games for me and many others.

Street Fighter II (1992) It says alot about a game when it's still being played on the competitive scene some 20 years after it's release but that is the staying power of Street Fighter II. Now since this game had countless iterations (some official and some not) I'm going to go with the version I played most which was the Championship Edition with included all four bosses as playable characters. This game has been ported to nearly every console to date at some point or another and is still referenced for it's cultural impact on fighting games and the video game industry as a whole. I remember going into pizza parlors in my hometown and getting in line to get a chance to play this game, at one point or another you probably ran into a Street Fighter cabinet. This game alone made 2 billion in worldwide release and had a perfect 10 score upon it's release.

It's eerie that I was having this exact same discussion with my roommates yesterday. Anyways, the correct answer is Mario 64

Mario Kart 64 (1997) Before online, there was local co-op games and it was hard to beat this one. The Nintendo 64 had tons of great multi-player games and one of the best ones was Mario Kart. The game had a great selection of characters and tracks that you could come back to and play again and again and still have fun. The Deathmatch mode was also very fun if you were looking for more of a head to head type deal.

- Megaman series: My all time favorite series, I started with Megaman 2 on NES, when I was like 5 years old, and from there it was on. - Super Mario World: Because it was the only game I had for a long long time. - Street Fighter II Turbo: I played the original on arcade, but never had it. I had this instead, and maan, did I love it. - Mortal Kombat II: Personal favorite, I still play it. - Star Fox 64: Personal favorite also, I've finished it like a 100 times. - Super Mario RPG: Marked for me the end of the SNES era, and was the first great game I got invested in. I played older Final Fantasy games only after I'd felt what this game gave me. ... There's a lot more, and I'm still a big retro gaming guy. I play more retro games / remakes, than New Gen.

Maximum Carnage (1994) Maximum Carnage was your basic beat em up but was separated it was it's insane soundtrack and well, the red cartridge. Being able to play as Spider-Man and Venom was really cool and the supporting cast of heroes and villains was also a treat for me as a youngster growing up.

I have this thing, it's not like an obligation or anything, it just hits me from time to time, and I have to finish every Megaman game I have, in chronological order. First 1 thru 8, then X thru X8, then Zero 1-4, ZX/Advent, Battle Network / Star Force and finally Legends 1 and 2.
I'm sick that way.
