Just trying to start a different topic. What do you use to edit? Whether it's a laptop, PC, Mac, etc. Basically your computer info. Other question is, what is everyone using to edit?
For me, I need a new computer. I currently have a Samsung laptop with intelcore 7 and 565 GB of space. 6GB RAM. I used to edit on Sony Vegas Pro 10.0, but switched to 12.0 a year ago due to 10.0 messing up and crashing on me. I also use After Effects CS6 for some effects. I'm pretty comfortable with Vegas at the moment, but I do plan on switching to Premiere in the future. Maybe this year.

I have Dell Optiplex 9010. It's an i7 and i have 8gb of ram. My graphics are little bit bad it's Radeon 1GB. And i have a 1tb hard.It sounds like a beast computer, it's beast when i format it. Last year i formated it but formating is little bit irksome because i have over a 400gb of WWE Medias so it's hard to transfer. I edit in SV 12 sometimes Premiere and also After Effects.

Had an itch to post about some computer tech and my maturity with understanding what I should have put money into early on.
Since 2012, I've been a Mac user (I know, burn me at the stake). I used a 2012 MacBook Pro for probably 7 years. I would normally save my programs and important files on my 8TB external hard drive, then do a clean reset on my laptop to wipe any bullshit off it after downloading programs to crack them and just overall use. Did it in my college dorm room and the campus wifi wouldn't let me reinstall the OS. Ordered my new current laptop, a 2019 MacBook Pro, which works fine, but as I do more in regards to editing, this thing sounds like it's a god damn dragon.
I enjoy watching tech videos and I'll normally watch Linus Tech Tips. They can be corny and over the top sometimes, but they have a decent mix of humor and good reviews of products and advice for consumers. I watched their video on running MacOS on a PC, which I knew about, but wasn't as informed as I am now. Just watching the fact that you can assigned GTX 1080s and components that run so much higher than what Apple offers really just makes me shake my head at myself for not knowing these things a few years ago before having my parents help buy my a computer.
I'm still in the dark with understanding PC building and coding, so even if I get into having a PC build, I'd need help with setting up VM pass-throughs, component assignment, etc. I enjoy Mac's OS and seamless ability to transfer data between OS and phones versus PC. I had to borrow my mother's PC and I was not a fan of going back to using Windows. lol. So yes, y'all got me with being a Mac user, but I still do running MacOS, but should invest in a PC to run it.

NGL if you had asked a month ago I would have dropped all advices why you should switch to Windows but after Apple released latest macbook air with m1 I DO NOT recommend it. This new macbook will solve all of your issues, because Intel has been lately really shitty Apple ditched them and made their new CPU which has ARM structure like mobile phones have. Phones can scrub 4k footage with ease while PCs struggle with it. That CPU solves many issues, it doesn't heat up nearly as much so no need for fans and macbook is completely silent and it has incredible battery life compared to any other laptop that is out just because of different CPU structure. This video will show you all about it
