So, Ultima Lucha Night 1 was a wacky show, to say the least. Impromptu gimmick matches, piñatas, broken glass, beer, cinderblocks, a bar fight, crazy bumps, Dario Cueto's face turning bright red as he cut promos, and a surprise debut.
Mack vs Cage was a lot of fun, just like their match last year. And I was happy to see Mack get the big win, since he's been one of the most underrated parts of the show for awhile now.
The other matches weren't really anything to write home about, but the surprise at the end was just awesome! Honestly, the "Famous B looks for a client" storyline was one of the lowlights of the season for me, but it paid off in a big way!
Good match tonight. Finish made Mack look like kind of a dummy, which is never good for a babyface. But getting there was a lot of fun.
I mean, come on. Where else are you gonna see that?
I generally find Mundo to be a boring character, but he did a great job playing the cocky chickenshit heel.
It's a good episode to check out if you're one of those people who find all the fantasy stuff on LU alienating. Don't have to deal with that when the whole episode is just one long match.
Tonight's episode is a perfect example of why we need this show to get a fourth season, even if the buzz isn't there like it used to be. Wrestling wouldn't exactly be more fun if we couldn't see matches like Puma/Fox and Mundo/Azteca on tv anymore.
