Since a bunch of us will be playing again this year, why not have another thread for it. The demo is out now. It's pretty sick... only thing I can't figure out is how to do submission transitions. If anybody figures out how to do it, let me know. Here's a video I took on my phone using the new sway mechanic to dodge an overhand right from Rampage & counter with a left hook for the KO... After that KO, Rampage stayed down & didn't stand up when I had my hand raised. Swaying, switching stances, & using the fence for leverage are some great additions. I can't wait to clown foo's with Anderson!

You have a xbox right? Okay, please tell me how to get my hands up, I'm too stupid to figure it out...Game says RB and RT, but those don't seem to work. Ground-game looks good (since it's the only thing I can play right now ), feels very similar to last year's, but somehow easier (still can't figure 09's out). Love the "little" mount, where you don't sit up completely and just blast your opponent with nasty elbows. Edit: I think I figured it out. Machida's stance is weird as hell, if the opponent stands a few feet away from you he doesn't do anything when you press RB. Edit2: Got my first KO but was absolutely clowned on the feet before that. When I got 09, like everybody else, I picked up the basics of the stand-up game pretty fast, whereas the ground game was a big mistery to me. This time, ground game seems much easier. Still not that good at it, but the opponent doesn't do anything off of his back, whereas he kills me 9/10 times striking. Maybe it's just Lyoto's style....

I seemed to pick up 09 pretty easily.
At first, I was confused when I couldn't find the demo, but then remembered about the code. I'm downloading it right now and won't be playing it for another hour or two, but judging from what you guys say, I'm most likely going to love it.
EDIT: How do you sway?

Anybody got a sub against the CPU yet? I kinda fear that it will have the same problems as 09 in that regard. All I know is that I spent 24 minutes leg-kicking the shit out of my opponent, to the point were he moved around the ring like a zombie and got dropped with every punch to the body(!), but he shook off every submission attempt immediately. Hmmm...

To sway, hold RB & flick the left stick in the direction you want to dodge. It's a little tricky at first, but I got the hang of it very quickly.
RB blocks head punches & kicks (if you're at a distance from your opponent, the animation won't trigger until he throws something), RT blocks body shots & leg kicks.
I've only gotten 1 sub so far. It does seem a little harder this year, but I'm sure it'll get easier the more you get used to it. I love how the camera pushes in the closer you get to actually getting the tap. I just read that only certain fighters have submission transitions (like how only Lyoto & Rashad can switch stances in the demo).

As I was writing that last message, my nephew was playing as Rampage against Lyoto. He just kept throwing short left elbows to Machida's face... his right eye got really swollen & the ref paused the fight to let the doctor have a look at it. The doctor let it continue. I thought that was pretty freakin' sweet.

That sounds awesome. Never got any kind of zoom on my sub attempts, guess that's not a good sign. I got like...5 submissions total with last year's game, so it'll be 2 max this year

Turn the stamina bar on. Once you've worn their health down or their stamina is drained, go for the sub. And remember, rotate RS clockwise when going for a sub, counter-clockwise to keep yourself from tapping.

Who is planning on buying it this year?
I loved last year's game for a month or two, but I was through with it really fast. Story mode didn't do a whole lot for me, and there was never anybody online who chose someone other than the highest ranked guy in the weight class. There's only so many matches you could play against a GSP spamming a superman punch before you give the game a rest.
I'm assuming that they fixed the disconnect issue that made online play pretty insufferable last year.

You know, I was going to get it on PS3. But with the training camps and tourney modes going online, it's hard to say no to that, especially since the majority of people here own 360s.
I just hope that it's not something that we do and then forget about, but it's looking like they put a ton of focus on the online portion so I'll be getting it on Xbox.
Now I gotta get a 1 Year card...

I've been having trouble with Rampage on Expert. He throws wild haymakers that'll knock you the fuck out if they connect, he blocks almost everything you throw at him, & if you are able to hit him, he'll immediately tie you up & take you down. It ends up looking a lot like this...

You were right about turning the energy bars on, that definitely helps. I forgot about my own energy without them. I do think it takes way too much energy to do a sub though, my opponent had nothing left whereas I was still in the green range (barely, but I was) and a soon as I applied the sub my energy just faded away completely. I had to lie in side control for a minute and do nothing to have enough energy for the sub, and that doesn't exactly make for great fights.
With that being said, I like how you can visibly hurt guys with body blows. I just KTFOd Rampage with a knee to the body ;D
