The Amityville Horror, Black Christmas, The Fog, Friday the 13th, Halloween, House on Haunted Hill, House of Wax, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Wicker Man
These films are all two things:
1.) Classics, cult or otherwise, that have successfully lived on due to a niche, devoted fanbase. Films, for the most part, made with limited budgets and inexperienced actors/crew. The definition of blood, sweat, and tears. Product produced by people who wanted to make a movie.
2.) Mass-marketed trash. Insipid pornography, devoid of the charms of their predecessors. Defined by nu-metal and hyper-sensationalized violence, making them indistinguishable from one another. Although the majority of them came out this decade, they've already long been forgotten - reduced to bargain bins, failing to inspire a new generation of filmmaker. Product produced by people who want to make a profit.
Oh, and yes I have.

Quite possibly one of the best pictures I've seen in a while. Anyways, I started downloading The Road sometime last week. My Mythology teacher went to see it over the weekend, and she said it was absolutely amazing, and that Viggo Mortensen deserved an Oscar. I seriously want this download to finish.

Marc Webb (director of "(500) Days of Summer") was offered the Spider-Man reboot, which is planned as a trilogy at the moment. He's getting $10 million for the first film, and substantial bonuses given that it does well at the box office.
People have been buzzing about the possibility of Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring, although he's probably a bit old given that the franchise's new direction will have Peter Parker in high school.

I've only seen the one part everybody knows, where Satomura is pissed at her student's weak dropkicks and shows her how to do it right.

Looks like a good way to kill an hour and a bit. Also some nice Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros on the soundtrack! --- This is also having it first showing at Sundance. Only clip available on the net: Chris Morris is probably the most controversial satirical figure over here. The writers are from Peep Show and also co-wrote bits of The Thick Of It and did stuff for In The Loop. Morris is most famous for a late 90's TV show called Brasseye. Channel 4 just put all of the series on YouTube. Sadly this doesn't include the legendary Pedophilia special episode which has the honour of receiving one of the highest number of viewer complaints in British broadcasting history. www.youtube.com/show/brasseye

Me and a friend might start a movie night tomorrow and start with: ANTICHRIST.
Think the idea is to get together once or twice a month and take turns in picking a film. If it's your turn you can have seen the film, but the other person must not have previously watched it.
