We haven't done one of these in awhile. And I need an excuse to show off my new bookcase. Criterion (blu-rays on bottom) Box sets & TV on DVD Etc.. Planning on replacing this shelf with one similar to what i'm holding the Criterions / Box Sets in. Apologies for miserable picture quality. This covers everything other than my non-Criterion blu-rays, which are downstairs.

Completely and utterly jealous.
Right now, after selling off/parting with my wrestling DVD collection, I'm starting to build a blu-ray collection. My first pick-ups will be House, Toy Story 3, The Complete Monterrey Pop Festival, Exit Through the Gift Shop, The BBS Story, The Darjeeling Limited, The Dollars Trilogy, and Back to the Future.

New set-up: Criterions on the left, assorted on the right, and box sets on top. The TV seasons are on the bottom left but the picture cuts them off. I moved to the two guest rooms downstairs in my parents house after having lived in my previous room for as long as I can remember. I now have a bathroom to my own and a door to the outside deck, as well as an absurd amount of space. I'm set until I move out... but knowing me, god knows when that'll be. I've converted one of the two rooms into a DVD room. On one side of the room are those two bookcases, and on the other is a couch and some other assorted leftover furniture (old record player, grandfather clock, etc.).

Sort of related... here is my wall! Roughly my twelve favorite movies... although the artwork for both M. Hulot's Holiday and City Lights was better than Playtime and SteamboatBill, Jr.

I'm so very jealous of that wall.
I've been meaning to get some old movie posters. Where do you buy yours?

I'd been looking for the cheapest way to do this for quite awhile. Everything in the picture ended up costing me $75 in total. This Amazon storefront has all old 11x17 posters marked at $2.55. What you need to be conscious of, though, is that they appear to just print them without much consideration of quality control. If there's a glare on the image in the listing, there will be a glare on the printed poster. Same goes for pixelation. Though, just about anything that appears sharp is probably fair game, and shipping is very reasonable for multiples. Everything I have framed is virtually flawless. Unfortunately, though, the method I used to get the frames has changed. Wal-Mart had listed packs of 3 for $10 11x17 frames as of two or three weeks ago, but now the listing has changed to 2 for $17. Still not awful, but a pretty big monetary commitment if you want to get a bunch.

Allow me to resurrect a thread from nine years ago for news that will probably only appeal to AD, Reed, and maybe sarcastic.
It appears Criterion has a deal with Netflix in place. The Criterion edition of Roma is being released this month. But also, news broke a few days ago that four more Netflix "originals" are coming to the collection this year - The Irishman, Marriage Story, American Factor, and Atlantics.

Good news. But why no Buster Scruggs? Come on, Netflix. I need to own every Coen Bros movie!

Good news. But why no Buster Scruggs? Come on, Netflix. I need to own every Coen Bros movie! This was my biggest notable omission right now, and my favorite of the Netflix originals. I'm sure it's coming though. Criterion already has "Blood Simple" and "Llewyn Davis", so I think they're a case similar to Kubrick - Criterion is going to be putting out every non-"huge title" work of theirs. I wouldn't expect to see "Fargo" or "No Country for Old Men", but if there's an actual deal in place, "Buster Scruggs" has to be only a matter of time.

I got 2 Criterion Blu rays today! Was thinking of getting Blue Velvet over Mulholland Dr. but I think I might prefer the latter just a bit more.

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, I knew it was coming, but I didn't think it would be this soon. Definitely a pre-order. Probably the most depressing and stirring film I've ever seen.
