I ask this cause i usually use media from dvds and they work a little slow with sony vegas, sometimes even media thats already in my hard disk works slow there, and it would help me a lot to have a software just to cut the clips and put they together with a song, and then put effects into it with Vegas.

For a PC, try and find a copy of Windows Movie Maker 2 to download. Windows 7 comes with a newer version that sucks for MV editing. If you can find a copy of WMM2, you're good to go.

Don't quote me on this but I think it all depends on how powerful your computer is. Some computers aren't meant to edit. BTW are you editing with VOBs on Sony Vegas? If you are then that could also be causing your problem.

I started with Vegas right away. I had a bit of a harsh learning curve, but I started handling it after a while, so I recommend you doing the same. I had a lot problems with Premiere tho. If you're having problems tho, I'd say converting would get the job done. Lossless .avi codecs are pretty badass on Vegas 7 or 8.

Vegas, by far.
EDIT: if you have a fairly nice PC, check your preview settings. That can make a HUGE difference. Also, you will come to find that you won't need to watch your clips in vegas. Scan for the stuff you want before editing on VLC or Windows Media Player... write down the times. You can edit entire videos by simply reading the audio waves/levels on the audio track. By doing that, you only need the somewhat close cuts... then just check the frames for camera switches and adjust the clip for synch. It saves a butt-load of time.
