Xbox 360 getting Comcast, HBO, Syfy, Verizon, and other content this holiday. This is what the Xfinity portion of the App will look like on the Xbox 360.
For months, we've been hearing rumors of Microsoft offering content from big television channels and companies, and now, today, it's made official. Microsoft is confirming that Bravo, Comcast, HBO GO, Verizon FiOS and Syfy will be bringing content to 360 owners in the US; BBC in the U.K., Telefónica in Spain; Rogers On Demand in Canada; Televisa in Mexico; ZDF in Germany; and MediaSet in Italy. That also includes web-based services like AlloCiné, Crackle, Dailymotion, iHeartRadio, MSN with MSNBC.com, The Today Show, TMZ, VEVO and YouTube. The question, though, is what kind of content will be available? Comcast has outlined details about what it is bringing to the Xbox 360, which would be their "Xfinity On Demand service." which would mean their content will not include Live TV. However with Verizon, you will have access to "a selection of popular live TV channels." This will all be Kinect capable, as to what that means...no one knows. But I can only assume it's the basic gesture/voice commands we've seen already. What else is not known is whether or not most of these providers will require a Gold membership to access the channels with, as was the case for Twitter and Facebook. Xfinity & HBO Go, though, will not require Gold.

Thursday Update:-- If you live in the NY area, you can pick up an early copy of Batman: Arkham City a day earlier at the Toys R' Us in Times Square. The first 100 customers who pre-purchases a copy of the game though the "Personal Shopping Dept" (which I have never heard of until just now) will receive a ticket which reserves their copy of the game, along with the chance to get their copy of the game autographed by Jim Lee (co-publisher at DC Entertainment), Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman) and Sefton Hill (B:AC Game Director from Rocksteady). If you don't want to go that route, you can purchase the game at the event as well, though only 400 copies will be available and I can only assume that once they are gone, you have to wait, you know, a day or so to get it. -- Some more Arkham City news, there is a new trailer for the Robin DLC right here. It is exclusive to Gamestop so if you really love your Robin, you know where to get it. -- The weekly Nintendo download update right 'chere.-- Modern Warfare 3's Weapon and Pointstreak details here. -- One of Skyrim's bugs included chickens reporting user crimes. One of my favorite stories of the year. I literally L.O.L. -- New Max Payne 3 screenshots. I love the new location of the game. I was having doubts about it since no news was coming out about the game for sometime, but in usual Rockstar fashion, good things come to those who wait. -- New Hands On with: Uncharted 3. This game keeps looking better and better. The hand-to-hand combat flow so smooth compared to the first 2 games. I wish I had a PS3 right now. Here's the gameplay footage. -- It looks like Red Dead Redemption won't be coming to PC. Ever. It always sucks to see quality games like RDR not go to PC gamers, everyone should be able to experience the game on every platform if they so choose to. -- You can now upgrade your Kart with a Tanooki Tail in Mario Kart 7....bout damn time! -- Sony has been doing something pretty interesting lately with games they publish. Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD & Resistance 3 have reversible covers to them, and that trend continues with the Ratchet & Clank: All for One, which can been seen here. I love this idea, as I'm always trying to print out my own covers just because some of the usual ones aren't very good. I would like to see other publishers do this more often.

Awesome reporting, Mando! The Xfinity/ HBO stuff is interesting, can't wait to see what happens with that.
Video game news were cool to read too, especially the Batman and MW3 info. Thanks for the heads up!

Just a little correction... Robin DLC for Arkham City is exclusive to Best Buy here in the states. Gamestops in North America are getting the Joker's Carnival challenge map (& it looks like Power Up Rewards members also get the 90's animated Batman skin).

I had a feeling since it was a Gamestop UK leak that it wouldn't be here, but didn't put two and two together until now.

I remember seeing that on the site when I logged in a few days ago. Something I found extremely interesting. Anyways, I'm really excited for Skyrim. Read about a ton of released information a couple of days ago through a page on Facebook, and apparently, when they say dragons are going to be in the game, they REALLY mean a LOT of dragons. EDIT: Also, speaking of PowerUp Rewards deals, I just noticed this was posted last week: A great way for PC gamers to score some Reward points!

Saturday Update:-- Battlefield 3 will be a 2 disc release on the 360, with the second disc containing a high-res texture pack that the user can install (if they so choose) to give the game a better look. Patrick Liu, a producer from DICE, had this to say on the matter: “There’s a voluntary install on the 360. I think Rage did it as well, where you can install content to stream higher res textures,” he said. ”We’re pushing that technology to the limit, and compared to our competitors, I would argue that we’re the best looking game.”-- Valve issued a response claiming that the upcoming release of Counter Strike: Global Offensive runs slow on the PS3 when compared to the PC version. Since both will be cross platform, I'm sure they had this at priority no. 1 when it was announced. Don't fret people. -- The latest issue of Game Informer had some great tidbits on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: - The player threw a Wolf he killed into a river and it went with the tide. - Just killing a random stranger or two won’t be enough for you to join the Dark Brotherhood. - Couple of stealth perks include 15x damage increase with a dagger in stealth and a perk that allows you to disappear from battle. - Upon exploring Whiterun you’ll be asked if your Battle-Born or Stormcloaks. On this occasion the player said Battle-Born and got to explore their headquarters without any harm. They offer a quest, they suspect one of their soldiers has been taken by the Stormcloaks at Northwatch keep. - Also in Whiterun, a drunkard asks you to go and steal a rare Argonian ale for him as a small favour. - Smaller tasks such as the one above will appear as a separate tab in the Journal while the other lengthy quests that require multiple objectives will appear in the main tab. - He hears some gossip in the local tavern that a boy in Windhelm is looking for the Dark Brotherhood. - After that, the writer didn’t want to describe what happens next because of spoilers. He says that if you’re a fan of previous questlines you’re going to love it and has it’s a nice mix of dark humor and brutality. Just as he was about to visit the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, his time ran out. - Briefly before he finished he climbed up a mountain to Azura’s Shrine and was offered a quest.

Monday Update:-- Konami confirmed that Silent Hill: Downpour has been delayed until Q2 2012, which is between April & June. That was for the best, it would have gotten slaughtered if it did end up releasing this month as it was originally intended too, plus every preview I have read online echoed the same criticisms, so hopefully they can work it all out for it's release next year. -- Hitman: Absolution gameplay teaser. It's been awhile since we last played a game with Agent 47, looking forward to seeing the whole video tomorrow. -- Sources has said Microsoft is targeting November 25th for it's Fall dashboard update on the Xbox 360. -- Star Wars: The Old Republic "Choose Your Side" trailer here. 2 more months....2 more months.... -- The oft-rumored multiplayer component in Mass Effect 3 has it's latest confirmation via Australian PC magazine "PC Power Play". Until we get some kind of confirmation, it's still listed as rumor, but they do got hands-on interviews with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson so this has some kind of weight to it. -- Rage on the PC has a 'massive' patch update right now that fixes numerous graphical hitches, along with driver issues and bugs.

Well, at least this gives me time to get money for Downpour. What was wrong with it?

Well, at least this gives me time to get money for Downpour. What was wrong with it? The gameplay very clunky, and the graphics (up to this point) wasn't very detailed and the voice acting was very sub-par but I don't think that can change very much considering the pretty small time window we have until it's release. People still held out hope for it though, saying that if those issues are addressed, the game could be something to build upon.

(Early) Tuesday Update:
-- With the release of Batman: Arkham City just around the corner (it's only a week away!!!) we are getting some very late DLC details. Gamestop let slip the dates for each of the new DLC packs coming out for Arkham this year:
- The "Nightwing character pack" has been dated for November 1, and it'll cost you $6.99 or 560 MS points. Nightwing will come with his own set of moves & gadgets as well as 2 challenge maps: "Wayne Manor" & "Main Hall".
- The site also listed a "Robin bundle" will hit on November 12 for $6.99 or 560 MS points.
- Finally, we have the basic "Skins pack" coming December 6 for $4.99.
Note: Both the Nightwing & Robin bundles will be available for both consoles, and I can only assume the "Skins" pack will be the rest of the exclusive pre-orders that other retailers have which is a great thing for everyone.

Friday Update:-- Halo: Anniversary achievements here. -- Street Fighter X Tekken finally has an announced release date: March 6th in North America & March 9th in Europe. Along with the announced release date, we also got news of a new character added to the roster: Rufus. Also, there will be a PC version of the game coming as well, which is great news. But, the last bit of news rubbed alot of people the wrong way at New York's Comic Con event, with the discussion switching to Power Gems and the mention of "autoblock" and "auto throw escape" gems. It's a bit premature to boo such a feature before we know more about it, and actually see how they affect the game. -- Sony is unsure whether it will bring PSOne support to the Vita. The story started yesterday, when a post from Siliconera started that a Sony Computer Entrainment FAQ page answered a question about support for "game archives" on the Vita ("Game Archives" is the Japan version of the PSOne Classics line here.) The confusion came when Siliconera stated it was for PSOne support, when others thought it was for PSP support. Then there was a tweet sent out by SCE President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida when he was asked whether or not PSOne games will be on the Vita: Please wait for more info later. True on day 1 Japan launch. Now, that sounds like support for PSOne games at launch is out the window, but that doesn't mean it's never coming. With Sony pushing PS1 games on platforms such as the Android phones, I highly doubt we will not see these games come out on the Vita. This is very much a "wait and see" approach, but I'm not too worried.

Saturday Update:-- Activision announced that Goldeneye 007: Reloaded will be releasing a demo on XBL & PSN November 1st. What the demo will entail though wasn't announced, but it is nice to see there will be one. I'm very much skeptical on this, since the Wii version received sub-par reviews, so we will see if a nice coat of HD graphics and online play do really make a difference...I don't think so....but we will see. You can check out some new screenshots of the game here.--Gears of War 3 will have a Torque Bow Tag playlist this weekend, I'm sure you can draw your own conclusions as to what this playlist means. Ok, if you didn't get it, all players will spawn with a Torque Bow, Snub Pistol and Smoke Grenade and all weapon spawns will be replaced by Torque Bows. Sounds like alot of fun! The playlist will run through this weekend and ends on Monday, October 17th. -- THQ revealed that the upcoming UFC Undisputed 3's roster will include over 150 fighters. To put it into perspective, that's twice as much playable characters on WWE 12 & three times as much as Marvel vs. Capcom 3. That's alot of fighters (obvious over-statement) but I think one of the things that needs to be addressed is the fact that the game doesn't have a long shelf life, it's cool for the first day or so but the career mode needs to be more engaging. The gameplay is getting better, but I can only play Exhibition so many times. The game will be released on January 2012 for both the PS3 & Xbox 360. -- New Prototype 2 Trailer: "Red Zone" -- Normally, I wouldn't go out of my way to talk about a Spyro game, other than the original, but this is something really cool. Skylander, developer of the new Spyro game titled "Spyro's Adventure" has included a cross-platform data sharing feature that lets you bring over creature data between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, 3DS, and PC. That's really cool, I don't think anyone that has done a multi platform release has ever done this, and I hope other developers will find someway to do this with their titles as well. -- Users are reporting that legit copies of Forza 4 are banning them from Xbox Live because, allegedly, they are loading up a pirated copy of the game, though they claim that they are retail copies. When contacting Xbox Support, they said this is a Turn 10 issue, developers of the game, and that a fix will be released within the next 24 hours. Gamers, though, are still annoyed at the lack of support from Turn 10 due to the fact that they are locking any threads that mentions the ban after playing Forza. Hopefully a fix will come asap, but it is bizarre that Turn 10 would go out of their way and lock threads like that. -- Assassin's Creed Revelations achievements here. -- Daishi Odashima, Game Director for Soul Calibur V, has teased on Twitter of new Soul Calibur V news coming next week. Odashima previously made mention that character announcements would be made sometime in the middle of October so it's probably related to that.

Huh. I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the Catwoman news. In order to play as Catwoman in Arkham City, you need to either: A) Buy the game new B) Pay $10
Personally, I don't mind. Seeing as how the developers don't get money from gamers buying their games Used, this can be a good way to get people to buy this New. And seeing as how this is already being rated as "one of the best video games ever", they definitely deserve the money if it's true.
From what I hear, this is also going to happen for all Online PS3 games after Uncharted 3 is released. In order to play Online, you need to buy the game New or pay for a pass for each game you buy Used (In order to play Online). Like I said: I don't mind it, but that's probably just because I don't play games Online (Or I tend to buy New games).
