This is a shitty trend. They're punishing the consumer instead of going after the real culprit, Gamestop (& places like it).
Sadly, that's what our society has come to... screw the consumer, protect the business.

But I mean, what can they do? Most people completely SHUN the idea of buying stuff online (Which I'm sure has DEFINITELY increased after what happened to PSN), and if they went after GameStop, most of their sales would diminish. Hell, I'm willing to bet the only reason GameStop is afloat is because of Used games. That's why they buy a brand new game for $30 on the release day, and resell it for $55 (And why people get double points for buying & selling Used games, as well as discounts). Since they get all the profit for the Used games, it would only make sense that they try to tell the consumer "HEY, BUY IT USED! IT'S CHEAPER AND WE'LL GIVE YOU SHIT! ". If nobody bought Used games, I'm sure GameStop would run out of business (But that's not going to happen, due to things like the Rewards Program). But, what I REALLY want is for all of the games to be Online through the PSN Store/Xbox Live Marketplace in sort of a Steam format (But, I'm sure that would be shitloads of data, and would take a while to get it just right). I'm sure if it was possible to do that, it would help solve the problem. Make all of the games have a One Hour trial of the full game (Like on PSN), and you can choose to buy it afterwards.

I know. It just sucks seeing gamers screwed over with things like online passes & disc locked content.

Yea I'm not a fan of the whole trying to stop people from buying used thing. I mean is that really the problem? I mean it's been going on forever and they're just now going out against it. I think the $60 price tag for new games plus the extra cash for DLC might be the bigger problem causing people to want to buy used.

Some games are able to justify the $60 price tag, but let's be honest, most don't. DLC is something that is still a gray area, it's really difficult for me to believe that some that content isn't on the disc, and all we are paying for is to unlock it.

I mean, I'm sure there are quite a few deserving of that $60 price (Gears of War, Halo, Call of Duty, and major-rated and/or major-selling game series like that). Games like those definitely deserve to be priced the highest, due to how much of a high quality game it is. But for ones that are so-so? Meh. Let it start out at $40 or less. As for DLC, when it comes to games like Fallout, where it adds new storylines and whatnot, then yes, I would let it be paid DLC. But for things like new maps in FPS games? I think stuff like that should be free. EDIT: Also, apparently, Warner Bros. is letting GameStop offer the code with Used copies. This makes no sense. At all.

I think the $40 price tag is something they should be shooting for. I think THQ did that with the new ATV/MX game where the game was $40, but the DLC brought it to $60. It didn't sell well, but I think it was because the DLC was pretty much the rest of the game, so you were pretty much forced to buy it if you wanted the full experience. I have yet to play Fallout, but I know for a fact that Bethesda & Rockstar know how to make DLC that will be worth it, but why doesn't everyone else? Is it really that difficult?

Duuuuuuuuude. Fallout 3 is amazing. They're selling the GOTY edition with all of the DLC for about $35, I believe. One of the best deals I've ever had when it comes to gaming. I HIGHLY recommend picking it up. As for New Vegas, I'd get it since the price dropped to $20. But back on topic. I think they should drop some games (Like Alice: Madness Returns) that have a large following, but nothing compared to the likes of GoW or Halo down to $40 or so. Because, come on, I doubt very many people are going to pick it over the bigger games (I would, since I've been hyped for about a year for it, but most would pick the higher-fanbase multiplayer game with a larger reputation and momentum). Speaking of Alice, it dropped to $40 in less than 2-3 weeks, I believe.

I know You would be surprised by how many games will drop to $40 a week after release, some being some of the most popular of the year. I think it's done to get more units sold quicker rather than waiting for people to buy it so it looks good on their profits report. Dropping prices down to $50 would be better, I wouldn't have such a problem buying games consistently at $50 than $60.

Now, I'm so used to $60 being the "New" price ;-; I guarantee new games for the next gen will be $70-$80.

Monday Update:-- Capcom has confirmed the release date for Street Fighter X Tekken, which is March 6th 2012, but also let loose some details on the Collector's Edition of the game: - Street Fighter X Tekken game - Build-It-Yourself Arcade Cabinet Bank (approximately 5″H) - Exclusive Prequel Comic Book by UDON - 36 Gems: Includes All Pre-Order Packs Plus An Exclusive Pack - Pre-Order Bonus: Nine Exclusive Gems Only Available For Pre-Ordering SE. - Total of 45 Gems When You Pre-Order I usually shy away from Collectors Edition of games because usually it's not worth the extra money, but since this does actually have content that will be used in the game, and not just a DVD or art book, I'd say it's worth the price. -- Since they were in the announcement mood, Capcom has also officially announced the HD remakes of the Devil May Cry trilogy. No release date has been announced, but I'm guessing it will be coming out a couple of months before the remake comes out next year. -- DICE recently broke down the different graphical settings for Battlefield 3, and stated that a low end PC would be able to run the same looking graphics that the PS3 & 360 will put out. -- Here are the contents in the WWE 12 Collectors Edition with The Rock cover: - Foil sleeve cover packaging featuring The Rock - Copy of WWE ’12 video game - The Rock playable in-game character - WWE Blu-Ray/DVD featuring matches from the ‘Greatest Superstars of The 21st Century’ - Exclusive Foil Topps Trading Card featuring The Rock - Art Image of The Rock I like how most websites are covering this as the first time he's been in the game in years, when it's quite the contrary. -- The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer: Me like. -- Turn 10's Community Manager Brian Ekberg comments on the Forza 4 bans: “We are investigating claims from a select group of Forza 4 players who believe they have been unfairly banned from Xbox LIVE. We take piracy issues very seriously and will be investigating this matter case by case. If we find accounts that have been banned in error, we will reinstate them,”

Spider-Man moving back to open world? Thank god! I had zero interest in these recent linear beat 'em-ups.

Gems? What are gems? I haven't been paying as much attention as I should towards SFxT.
And yeah, I missed the open world gameplay from Spider-Man 2. I'm definitely going to love this. (At least as long as you don't die when you hit the ground)
