I had a couple of questions, so I figured I'd post them all in one thread, any responses would be greatly appreciated!
1) I've only used Sony Vegas for editing, and I was wondering if anyone has use both Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere, and if so, comparisons, do you prefer one over the other for any particular reasons?
2) I've been downloading HD media and it's in MKV. MKV doesn't work in Sony Vegas, so I use VirtualDub and make a direct stream copy of the file, so it's Avi and works in Vegas. What I noticed is when I put the file in, it's very slow and laggy to use in the trimmer and on the track.
3) Does anyone know of any good effects that you would recommend downloading for Adobe After Effects?
Again, any responses would be appreciated, thank you!

I've come to like Adobe Premiere better. Just cause I've used it in college for a year or so now. Sony Vegas seems a little easier on the start, but you get better results with Premiere.
I would start using torrents. XWT or PWT have torrents for wrestling and MMA. The torrents have different formats that have that work better than MKV. But if you like what you have, there's a codec pack called "K-Lite"
Don't know many good effects for After Effects but there's a website called Videohive. They have effects that you can download. But you have to pay for it. I'm sure there's torrents for that as well.
