I don't know how to explain this question, but I'm not asking how you guys download songs.
Like how do you editors find songs to edit to. Songs that match the topic and such. I usually have a hard time finding a song and/or finding a topic that matches the song. When I do I usually run out of media or can't find media. How do you guys find songs that go with a topic you have in mind or how do you guys find songs that gives you an idea.
Thanks.

For me, the song usually comes first, and I craft the subject around the song. That's the best way in my opinion to have everything line up so perfectly.
Other than that, I think most of us are just huge music fans. I listen to all kinds of music, so I often feel like I have a song choice perpetually in the back of my mind.
Checking out the "What are you listening to?" thread or the newly relaunched music podcast are great ways to find new music. Most everyone here has great taste.

I kinda echo what beej just said. I download a bunch of different albums of different artists and then when I listen to it on the go, I try to match the lyrics to literally any angle in wrestling that could fit.
Another thing I like to do is go for a song that the wrestler himself likes. For example, I used the song Patience for the Charlotte video because she mentioned that it's one of her and her late brother's favorite songs to listen to. Or for the Ethan Page video I heard him talk about liking Kanye West a lot and seeing himself as the Kanye West of wrestling, so I just downloaded some Kanye albums and tried to connect the dots a bit.
Last one I got is making a private youtube playlist and saving every song a friend sends you or recommends you. You never know when they could fit. I still have songs I added to that playlist from 2012 and they always come in handy when I need one.

I think I've maybe made maybe 3 videos where I thought of a topic first and then came up with a song. That can work really well too, but the other way is more organic. Then again, that can also be a frustrating process if you just don't come across anything that fits, which is why I usually don't really work on deadlines and usually have an idea ready before even signing up for a competition, so your mileage may vary. So yeah, usually I just listen to random music (my MV song choices are all over the place) and sometimes I just get a sudden inspiration, listen to the same song on repeat for half an hour and furiously take notes. It's really unpredictable and almost impossible to replicate for me. Usually some lyrics and the general tone and theme just stick out and I make some connection to a topic, no matter how weird it may be. A love song by Cat Stevens is about the AJPW/NOAH split? Yeah, sure...that makes total sense.
