If their aren't any objections, perhaps we'll crown a new MMV champion at Vidmas...along with new World and Tag champs!

I'm all for the Movie Division too! Should act like a sweet new alternative to all the wrestling in here

I'm wondering who would be interested in competing to become the first MMV Champ at MVZ...I'm thinking we do an exhibition to set up the final one on one match for the title at Vidmas.

I wonder if it'd be possible to have some sort of substantial weekly content. Maybe a match every Friday or something of the sort. It seems unreasonable, but the 5YA had ten matches - that'd be ten weeks of content. In addition to matches, the omnibus projects could also fill a weekly spot.
It'd be tough to guarantee that much participation, but I imagine that if we waited to launch it for a month or two then we could build up a decent queue of new videos to gradually put out. While we have our share of daily visitors, I think we could really drive traffic on a weekly basis should we promise brand new, consistent material. For all of the "new to the board" threads, I feel like one out of ten guests really sticks around as an active member. Something to look forward to every week may change that.

I'm in favor of this if people are willing to make videos. Perhaps a streak breaker type series for the new editors...first match to declare a winner, then that winner has to continually match up against new editors until he loses, in which case the winner of that encounter would start his string of defenses. Even videos that are 30 seconds to a minute would work...sort of an exercise in editing.

I like the idea of having a match a week, but I don't know if the streakbreaker thing would work. It sounds like a cool idea but I'm not sure if people would have the time to edit one piece a week. I'm all for it happening though.

I like the idea for weekly videos. Better yet, I think we could/should incorporate gimmicks every few matches.

Streakbreaker is a good idea, although it'd take a LOT of dedication. I don't know if there's many people we could hang that responsibility on. Gimmick matches are a good idea, too, although I would say for the most part it's best to broaden the field simply to have the biggest output. Both would be good ideas to spicen things up when people are willing, though.
The first page of the Wrestling Music Videos section right now is all videos posted within the last month and a half. Theoretically, instead of people going there for exposure (which they've never gotten), they could submit a video for a weekly competition. Sure, not every match is going to be something big like ltownbob vs. Th3rd, but I think this could potentially be a good way to sort of "train" people to visit the site on a weekly basis. We could have a match every week and also announce the match for the following week. Ideally the announced matches would contain videos that have already been completed as over time we'd have accumulated a queue. Having a queue of videos ready for competition would also make the strain on moderators easier to deal with as there wouldn't be any concern about late videos.
Maybe i'm an optimist, but I think that within a month of announcing a concept like this we would have atleast a dozen videos - both by the very inexperienced and the veterans - and it would take a month and a half to get through those. During that month and a half hopefully we'd have another handful of videos ready to compete. The risk is fatigue, although I think people will stomach two videos a week. And using some of those weeks for omnibus videos, I don't think there'd be a shortage of videos in the immediate future.
We're all here because we're friends and we've been coming here for a long time. But there's no incentive for lurkers to visit regularly as they don't know us and competitions are spaced so far apart. We can't have too many competitions, and we can't have too few. This idea is meant to flirt with the middleground.

I've got one video ready to compete with, and I'm working on two others as well.
