I finished up DOOM a week or so ago and oh boy is it fun! After years of restarts, reboots, possibly never even making another entry in the DOOM series, the fact that we got this caliber of game is astounding. Not that I didn't think id had the stuff to make something this amazing again, they went through a big shift when Carmack left and Rage didn't live up to expectations. I think when they saw how great a reception Wolfenstein: The New Order got, they went that same route with DOOM and it worked out and them some. Both games are cut from the same cloth...except you go to an actual hell in DOOM as oppose to a earthly hell in Wolfenstein (both are still hell of course but you get what I mean).
The game's look is the first thing that will stand out. When you are in space, there's not much distinguishing it from room to room. As soon as Hell's minions start to come at you in droves and you start delving deeper into the space station, that's when the look of the game starts to get it's mojo. It starts to look like hell, fire coming from all around you and pieces to the floor just disintegrating because of the heat so you have to start jumping to get to a higher ground and get to where you need to go. That's another thing that took some time to get used to: JUMPING IN DOOM! It took me a level or two to get over the fact that you can jump lol. Weapon upgrades and secrets litter the game as well, so if you dig the campaign replaying and collecting everything will be more fun than time consuming. You even collect little FUNKO POP style figures to get the classic maps which I thought was pretty clever. I haven't gotten around to multiplayer but plan to once I get everything and go through the campaign a couple more times at higher difficulties.
This has been my favorite game of 2016 so far. I am a huge DOOM fan and it lived to every outrageous expectations I had for it.
Now, onto Uncharted 4.

Thanks for that Armando! I just finished Uncharted 4 and Doom was looking to be my next purchase. I was still on the fence, but after your recommendation, I'll most likely pick it up.

I never had a PS3, so these definitive edition coming out for PS4 are really helpful to me. Has anyone played Dead Island, and would it be worth a pickup since the PS4 version just came out? I was a big fan of the Left 4 Dead series.

I was a big fan of the Left 4 Dead series. I haven't heard much about it since it's release. I haven't played Dead island as well so I'm interested if they ported it and fixed any issues the original had. I remember seeing gameplay of it years back when it was released and it look janky as heck but also in the fun way like let's see if we can break this game kind of way. This seems like it's from the same cloth of L4D, but with a more focus "story" while L4D was more of let's survive this next horde of zombies...to get to the next horde of zombies. Oh, and that screaming witch...oh boy...when I saw her I made sure to do anything possible to avoid her. 60% of the time, it worked 0%.

Some quick thoughts on Trials of the Blood Dragon:
The bike sections of the game are fine. It's Trials so it's pretty hard to screw it up. Though there are no tutorials on how to handle the bike on big jumps, the speed, etc so if you've never played any Trials games before, it's gonna be a crash course on it but not too difficult. BUT, the platform & jetpack sections of the game are TERRIBLE. I don't know who was in charge of those parts, but oh boy did they not make it user friendly. The jetpack gets out of control very quickly and the platform sections are the worst I've played in a game in quite a while. The thing you need in a platform game is timing, and they did not give you that in this game.
The tone of the game was off too, which sucks since it's a Blood Dragon game! I loved the first Blood Dragon game, and this one just didn't catch me like the first time around.
I would not spend $15 on this sadly. If you can catch it on a sale or if they give it away on XBL Gold or PS+, go that route.
I want to see more games from both these series, just not together. Ever.

I want a true full blown Blood Dragon sequel. Or just add the first one to backwards compatibility. No interest in Trials whatsoever.

I don't know what they can do now with Blood Dragon or another game of that same ilk because they already had the 80s motif set in the future, and now they got the 80s motif (again) set in the future while also parodying current video games and 80s movies. Where do you go from there? 90s? If it's just gonna parody tropes and culture the same way they have done the first two times, then I don't think they will be able to capture lightning in a bottle and bring people in again. These types of games have such a short shelf life, they went so long without doing another game (about 3 years) that I think that time has passed. Bring it back via backwards compatibility and call it. Volition ran into the same problem with the Saints Row franchise but did the smart thing and kept making games while people were willing to play them. I don't think I wanna play another Blood Dragon game after this. Especially if it's gonna be the same 'ol same 'ol.

No Man's Sky has had a lot of varying opinions on it. Some say the game has lived up to the tremendous hype it has accumulated over the years, while others feel like it is barely a game at all and is a major disappointment. I was able to get the Collector's Edition of the game last week so that should tell you how excited I was to finally play it.
The one thing I can say is that it is very true that there is very little to do in the game. You scavenge elements for your mining gun, use those same elements to help build your ship and get it up and going in the air, and traverse the planet exploring. There is no real point to the game other than reach the center of the universe (what happens after that is anyone's guess) so I can definitely see people not liking it because it lacks general direction.
But, and I think this is the way the developers want you to play it, do it in small increments. This doesn't feel like the type of game that you play and only that. You fly to a planet, explore, collect elements, find wildlife, leave, repeat. If you look at the game through those parameters, people may enjoy the game much more.
