Whew.
After almost 2 months of nothing, FINALLY I have some news to share, if you haven't already heard...or cared.
Ok, the rumor mills stared on late thursday/early friday about Nintendo's next console and that it will be revealed at this year's E3.
Here's the chain of events that led to this assumption (courtesy of Kotaku):
On top of all of this, is right now Best Buy and Target are selling the Wii at $170. Normally, when something like this happens means a company is trying to get rid of "old" technology because something new is on the horizon. As always, rumors are rumors and this could be something that is going to be a year away from being revealed, but more often than not, a video game rumor has a pretty good stat record of being true.

Sony: Playstation Outage Could Last Days
The Playstation Network outage that hit Playstation 3s last night looks like it's turning into a bit of a mess. "While we are investigating the cause of the Network outage, we wanted to alert you that it may be a full day or two before we're able to get the service completely back up and running," Patrick Seybold, senior director of corporate communications & social media, wrote on the official blog moments ago. "Thank you very much for your patience while we work to resolve this matter. Please stay tuned to this space for more details, and we'll update you again as soon as we can." Early this morning we reported that we and others were unable to log into the Playstation Network. Attempts resulted in an 80710A06 error message. The issue seemed to be impacted consoles internationally as well. We were able to confirm the issue in the U.S., Australia and Japan. Activist group "Anonymous" has been claiming to have been behind attacks against the PlayStation Network for a few weeks now, and while the group's leadership has sworn off attacking Sony customers, though that doesn't mean a splinter group isn't possibly responsible. Last March a clock glitch knocked Playstation 3's worldwide offline and, in some cases, unable to play games. Stay tuned to this page for updates as they happen. We've reached out to Sony for comment on whether they suspect this is the work of some sort of attack or a technical issue on their end. We're also trying to nail down which services may be out for a day or two. Duke Nukem NSFW TrailerPSPGo Not Dead in North America
Yesterday, Sony Japan said that the PSPgo, the disc-free variation of the PlayStation Portable was no longer in production. Dead. Done. Put to rest. Well, not in America. Clarifying news that broke on IGN, a Sony spokesperson in the U.S. told Kotaku today: "We are continuing production of PSPgo for North America. We will also continue to support the PSP-3000 platform."[/quote] Miyamoto talks Super Mario 3DS, hints at the racoon's returnIn a recent interview with Edge, industry legend Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed two of the suspicions we'd developed regarding the handful of Super Mario 3DS details revealed during the publisher's GDC presentation. First, he explained, "It's a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64." Which makes sense, considering we knew it was being developed by the team between both installments in the Galaxy series. He added that the device's 3D capabilities makes platforming a bit smoother, explaining, "The floors floating in space: in 2D it's difficult to judge the distance, but in 3D it's really easy." Second, remember the tail that was springing out of the logo? That wasn't just some sad remnant of a half-deleted Wingding -- it was, as you probably expected, an appendage. Miyamoto explained, "The tail you mentioned on the logo – it's what you think it is. You probably know what's going to happen using that character." Who, Tanooki? Yeah, we know that guy's style. He's gonna get right in our trash cans, mess up our yard and then fly off into the crisp, night sky. We'll have our opportunity to get reacquainted with that ringtailed jerk relatively soon -- Miyamoto explained, Super Mario 3DS is "completely original, and coming this year." Rumor: Wii successor has controller with giant touchscreen, also uses motion controlsSome purported new information about the still-unannounced Wii successor paints a surprisingly specific picture of the device's controller. Kotaku reports that, according to unnamed sources, the controller for the "Project Cafe" device will have eight buttons, two analog sticks, a camera ... and an enormous 6.2" touchscreen. For reference, the DSi XL has 4.2" screens. The Kindle has a 6" screen. If these rumors are true, this controller will likely be crazy expensive. We honestly can't see Nintendo getting away with selling $200+ controllers. Kotaku also reports that this won't be the only accepted control method. "Project Cafe" will also reportedly support "Wii Remote-style controllers," the site says, though it's currently unknown whether that means the existing Wiimote or a new motion device. Child of Eden pushed back to September on PS3, will support MoveJust a few days ago, Ubisoft said Child of Eden was coming to PS3 on June 17 (in Europe). But don't go thanking your Heavenly Stars just yet -- it's now been bumped to September, according to a statement given to IGN. The Xbox 360 edition of Tetsuya Mizuguchi's synaesthe-tastic rail shooter is still on track for June 14 in North America. There is some good news to be found in the announcement, however. Ubisoft also confirmed that the PS3 version of the game is "expected" to support PlayStation Move controls, so PS3 users will be able to join in on the waving. Also, Free Xbox Live Gold this weekend.

Chrono Trigger rated for PSP and PS3Square Enix's pretty-much-the-best-game-ever Super Nintendo RPG Chrono Trigger has the distinct disadvantage of being, as aforementioned, pretty much the best game ever and, simultaneously, pretty expensive in its native SNES format. Fortunately, the game's not too pricey on the DS, but that might not be the only platform to grab it on the cheap in the near future -- the ESRB has rated Chrono Trigger for release on PS3 and PSP. The ESRB listing doesn't provide any additional details about the title, but if we were betting men, we'd say it's the PS1 re-release that was included in the Final Fantasy Chronicles collection (to be distributed through PSN as a "PSOne Classic"). If we were men who were really bad at betting, we'd say it was some kind of magical Direct X11 remake, chock-full of social networking features and support for 3D TVs. Miyamoto would most like to see a Link to the Past remake on 3DSShigeru Miyamoto has a habit for developing games that show off the strength of new Nintendo platforms -- and it sounds like he's planning on doing so once again for the 3DS. Speaking to Edge, Miyamoto explained now that Nintendo has finished developing the 3DS hardware, it can "focus more on gaming" in the coming year, adding that we can expect "remakes of games on 3DS as well." When asked for a specific title he'd like to see remade, Miyamoto reached into his own back catalog, answering, "I think A Link To The Past." Deciding that wasn't enough of a pseudo-sadistic tease, Miyamoto explained some of the functionality he'd like to see in a 3DS Link to the Past remake. "Do you remember Xevious," Miyamoto asked. "It's two-layered and I really wanted to create that at the time. So to see Link To The Past in two layers would be quite attractive for me." Such a remake sounds just perfect for the 3D Classics section of the 3DS eShop -- a storefront which, serendipitously enough, will play host to a renovated version of Xevious itself. Probably Not the Wii 2, Part 1: Innovation reinventedWe're getting so many images, movies and epic poems that purport to depict Nintendo's rumored new HD console, which goes by the (also rumored) codename of Project Café, that we figured it's time to start throwing them at the wall and seeing what sticks. Today's artifact has popped up on several forums and blogs (we saw it on Destructoid, but you may have caught it elsewhere). It's a slide from something that reads "Project Café is simply the most developer friendly SDK the industry has ever seen. Deliver unparalleled next generation performance at current generation costs. It doesn't get any easier than this." Also, there's a picture of a box. Is it the Wii 2? Probably not. If pressed, we'd give it a ... 5/10 for believability. The form factor seems like an evolved Wii, so that's about right, but the wording off the slide feels ... off. What do you think? PSN outage due to 'external intrusion'
You might have guessed this already, but it's no simple error that's been keeping the PSN down over the last few days, forcing us into productive activities (like writing this) instead of playing multiplayer Spelunker HD. Sony finally came forward on the PlayStation Blog and admitted that "An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services." Sony says it turned off PSN and Qriocity services on Wednesday to investigate this "intrusion" further.
If this is the work of "Anonymous" members, they failed to read their own nebulous organization's press release -- Anonymous supposedly backed off from PSN attacks in early April. It's entirely possible, however, the latest hackers are members of no group other than the loose worldwide confederation of jerks.

Nintendo confirms Wii Successor, due to release in 2012
Well, Nintendo has finally put to rest (or at least given us some kind of confirmation) that they will indeed be releasing a new console in 2012. While they didn't go into detail about the next system (like the controllers, HD graphics, etc) they did say all will be revealed at E3 2011 during their press conference and that it will be playable on the show room floor. Well. We're about a month or so away from E3, so it's nice to get the craziness and rumor mills started beforehand.

Rumor: 'Rebug' custom firmware enabled free PSN downloads, forced Sony to shut down PSNWe may have gotten to the heart of the matter regarding the now six day shutdown of the Playstation Network. It seems to stem from the result of a particularly exploitative custom firmware (CFW) modification for PS3 which allows users to log in to the PSN as if they own a developer's console or "debug unit". What does that mean? Well, it will allow anyone that does this custom firmware the ability to use a fake credit card and buy certain items on the Playstation Store. Fear not, non-hacking PSN users, it seems like your credit card info is safe and sound. Apparently, tutorials are out there that show you have to do this, and according to Joystiq is "alarmingly easy to execute on consoles running the Rebug CFW." Sony is still working around the clock to get this fixed, but has yet to officially comment on this story.

UPDATE: Well. It looks like I was wrong. Sony has finally come clean and has detailed that the hackers do have everyone's personal info. Everything will be detailed in this article from Joystiq. Just change every password to every email account you have (including the one associated with the PSN account) just to be safe.

Oh, and one more thing: I AM BUYING PREPAID POINTS FROM NOW ON. Yeah, you beat me to the punch on that personal information post. Good thing I took my credit card off! And Anonymous didn't pull back permanently. They just said they'd pull back "For now" if they didn't meet their demands. So, I'm sure this is them. The thing that pisses me off is that they said "Our attacks do not affect gamers, and if they do, then we apologize. Our aim is towards Sony", yet they do this shit. It's stupid that gamers are actually supporters of this bullshit. "Oh no, it's cool. I don't care if you take my personal information and possibly my credit card info. Keep doing what you're doing, bro!"
