Can't the owner just contact the hosting server and just tell them to revert back to a few weeks or something before the issue happened?

I don't talk to him but if someone paid for it, I would set up the server (I think it is like 3.95 a month and $15 for the domain name) I could set up something secure that I could give the mods/admins access to. I use host gator and they are good about customer service I'm not sure who you guys use right now. Just an option, what I like the most about MVZ is that there is a site even if it is hacked an no one can go to it right now haha. Most places are just a forum and I like to see more than that sometimes. Plus MVZ has been around for years and years so it would be cool to see some of it's history organized better. Just an option people, not big deal, if the owner of the site can get it fixed that is cool but I just though I would throw my services out there  . Hit me up if you have any questions about my offer. |

I'm going to send a Facebook message to Ryan about the server. If he is willing to give the server information up to one of us, is anyone web savvy enough to attempt to get the virus sorted out from there?
Bomber, your offer is very enticing. The problem is that none of us really know the status of the server. Ryan had mentioned that he would stop paying for it at the end of last year, but obviously it's still up. Presumably, at the very most, we'll have it hosted until December. At that point, we should either move forward with a new server, or give the reins of the current server over to somebody who actually keeps up to date with MV Zone goings on.
The money issue could also cause some problems. As much as our regulars love the site, I don't know that we're going to be able to round up the cash to keep the server going. We've got somewhere around thirty visitors daily, many of whom rarely post, and many others are either in school or really young. $48/year plus a $15 domain name would be manageable only if we were successful in raising funds, which isn't a guarantee.
I'll try to make it to the MVZ Aim Chat this weekend for the PPV. We should all discuss the future of the website then.

According to godaddy, our website is good until April 14, 2012. I think $60ish a year isn't too bad if maybe 5-6 of us just chip in around $10-$15.
I think its a great idea if we all meet up for the AIMVZ chat this weekend and discuss all this.

Ahh Go Daddy? All I hear is trouble things about them..... Hostgator.com has been very good for me, helped me out very quickly with any questions or concerns I had. Might need to look for a server transfer to be honest. I wish I could be on this weekend but I will be in Atlanta on by birthday vacation  . GO RANGERS! But let me know what you guys find out and discuss I am interested. I don't have a problem throwing money around as crazy as that seems. If it will be fun to do I don't mind dropping some bills down. |
