Let's start getting some active discussions. I'll be posting some questions every so often to spark up conversation about video editing. You guys are also welcome to post your own. First, let's start off with the a simple one...
Which editors have had the most influence on you, and how/why?

Maffew and AJPWrestling from YouTube, no doubt. If it wasn't for them, I would have never opened up Windows Movie Maker and started editing.

Somthing like that happened to me....But in my case my insiparation was TheRock420RVD.His videos were just great and one day I said to myself ''You could never make videos like that''.The challenge to myself had been set.

I've been influenced by pretty much everyone, and I would consider myself a student of MVZ og's. PNB, London Calling, and TR all influenced by early work. Tagging and being buds with Kel also had a role in a lot of my first few videos. Their happy, upbeat style with a punk rock track was something I really enjoyed, and I wanted to create videos in that similar vein.
Later on and more recently, I've been trying to be more creative (admittedly not as successful), trying to tell stories and having more substance in my videos. Eric, Bob, Jason, and Billy (my personal Mount Rushmore) all have played a part in the past 2-3 years, and I study their mv's constantly.
Newer guys are also influencing me in their high-paced style. RVDiG, Peanut, and videos from A2E have really impressed so far with how they sync their videos and how they utilize speed in their videos. I've tried doing the same with my Vince video, but failed miserably.

To be honest, I never really got into any type of community of editors. It really just started me and my brother using Windows Movie Maker editing videos of Rocky IV lol. I just kinda wanted to go to another level, got Vegas and learned sort of from scratch.
Kind of off-topic but I seen an amazing Chris Benoit video telling the story of the tragedy that went amazingly perfect to the song earlier today and thats what brought me to this site. Not sure what youtube channel I seen it on.

Not sure what youtube channel I seen it on. Was it this video?... If so, then yeah, you've come to the right place! That was made by Th3rd, former MV Zone World Champ and a definite legend around this parts. Ask any editor here, and Th3rd will mostly likely be on their Top 3 MVZ editors list.

My biggest influence was really Rawm2000. He is still my favorite MV Maker because he is always key on having his video relate to the lyrics of the songs. He also likes to synch his music with the lyrics from time to time and I have always liked his method of editing. He isn't huge on effects and really digs deep when making his videos. Which is what I try to do. I listen to a song over and over trying to piece my video together in my head before I go in and start working on it. The lyrics are really what drive me to pick a song and it is probably all because of Rawm's style.

The guy who made the Ultimate Highlight MV's every Sunday morning for SportsCenter. That is all.
How: He showed that you could take an entire weeks worth of highlights and make something that resonated inside of you for a solid 3:00.
Why: He used VERY little effects in his videos. He showed you don't need effects to make incredible pieces of art, and that formula is something that I have not and will not break away from. The only time he ever used any were small bits of masking and the occasional glowing ball.
