Hey, I encountered this problem with my R-Truth MV and it's persisted as I move onto my next project.
Basically when I close Vegas, and then reopen it and reopen the project, some of the files I'm using seem corrupted.
Video files on the timeline appear as blackscreens. I can simply go to the project media page of Vegas and recopy the video from there, and it's fine. Plus there seems to be no connection between what files do this and what ones dont. I could encounter this every day on a project and it would be a different file each time.
HALP.

If they are Xvid, it has been known to happen... sometimes even randomly when clipping files down. I haven't much of that problem in Vegas 10, but I know it was a major issue in 8 & 9. You may also need an updated set of codecs (since newer rips are now encoded with newer codecs).
Get the newest K-Lite pack.
