Bummer. I feel Edgar should've got the shot though. He's on a longer winning streak against better competition than Mendes & he hasn't already lost to the champ twice. Conor's got a better chance at beating Mendes, so I guess that's why they went with him.

I think Conor has a much better chance at beating Edgar than Mendes. Mendes probably beats him and the UFC loses millions and millions of dollars. Why did they not just book him against Nate Diaz or Faber or somebody like that?

Really? Frankie would pick Conor apart with his stick & move point fighting footwork, then whenever things got dicey, he'd take him down & pound him out. Plus Frankie's been tested before & risen to the occasion. Mendes on the other hand, I don't see him faring too well standing up considering he's fallen in love with his KO power, so he'll be headhunting & less likely to take Conor down if he gets in trouble on the feet.

Mendes is a better wrestler and a much more powerful puncher. He was able to hang with Aldo in the striking department at times in their second fight. And I seriously doubt he'd just forget about his wrestling against an opponent like McGregor I could see McGregor beating Edgar. Don't see Edgar doing well in the standup. Pick' em fight for me.

Frankie dances around Conor's flatfooted karate crab style for 25 minutes easy. And if he gets hurt, he has shown how durable he is. If Mendes gets hurt on the feet, he may not have the wherewithal to revert back to his wrestling, if ya catch my drift.

Still, I'm not saying Conor beats either of them, but in my mind, Mendes is the easier fight.
