Gonna go ahead & give my thoughts on all the MMA goodness from the past week.
I'll start with the TUF Finale... great card. Siver/Fisher, Leben/Simpson, & Hamill/Jardine were all entertaining wars. We also got to see McSweeney gets smashed! ;D I'm glad Court McGee won cause Kris McCray is awful, but I doubt he'll make much of an impact at 185.
The next night we had another stellar WEC card. Wineland/Campuzano was a great fight. Horodecki worked Downes. Grispi looked good in putting LC Davis to sleep. Mark Hominick vs Yves Jabouin was awesome... definitely rivals Garcia/Jung as one of the most entertaining fights of the year so far. If you take away the groin kicks, whining, & bullshit decision, Varner/Shalorus was a great fight. Varner won, no doubt, but I love watching him cry like a bitch.
Bellator ended their second season on a strong note. Zoila Frausto KO'ing Rosi Sexton was the most impressive finish I've ever seen in a womens fight. Shlemenko looked good in stopping Baker. That Warren/Pitbull fight pissed me off soooooooooo much. Pitbull absolutely raped Warren in that first round, but he was completely gassed for the rest of the fight. I hate Joe Warren... "I'm the baddest man on the planet!" Bitch please. You got your shit pushed in for 5 minutes, then wrestlefucked a winded Patricio for the last 10.
And finally, Strikeforce. I was surprised Thomson had trouble putting away Healy. God damn, how about the heart/toughness/chin of Jan Finney. Cyborg beat the piss out her for 7 minutes & she just kept coming back for more. What's worse than having to listen to Frank Shamrock on commentary... how about Frank Shamrock narrating his own retirement tribute video & telling us how great he is for 10 minutes. Cung Le looked good avenging his loss to the Comeback Kid. Scott Smith may have Hands of Steel, but his mid-section is made of glass.
...Werdum submits Fedor. Wow. Nobody thought Werdum stood a chance. If it weren't for the wild demands of his crazy Russian handlers, Fedor could have gone out like a hero against a true top 5 heavyweight in the UFC... instead he falls to a guy, who may not have been a can like Rogers or Choi, but someone who didn't really deserve to be fighting the #1 heavyweight in the world.

I knew Carwin wasn't gonna finish it in one round, but the amount of beating that Lesnar got and for him to still come back in the 2nd shocked the hell out of me.
And oh boy, that Akiyama/Leben match was pure INSANITY! |

Wow, I thought it was gonna get stopped in the first for sure with Carwin pummeling Brock. Props to Lesnar for hangin in there and showing that he's evolving as a fighter and costantly learning.
Great night of fights overall.
Leben vs Wandy should be a fuckin brawl.

How's that humble pie taste, JRoc?  Awesome night of fights. Great card to enter this month long MMA drought with. Entertaining fight, but wildly unimpressive performances from Ricardo Romero & "The Kimbo/EliteXC Killer." Good win for Brendan Schaub. I don't know why, but the post-TKO "dirt off my shoulder" taunt made giggle. Gerald Harris' forearm-to-the-jaw-slam-KO was sick! Good fight from Sotiropoulos/Pellegrino. Bonnar/Soszynski was a really fun fight to watch. I'm not a huge Bonnar fan, but I'm always happy to see Soszynski lose. Lytle/Brown was good. I was expecting more of a stand-up war, but entertaining none-the-less. Nice sub for "Lights Out." Leben/Sexyama... what a war! Akiyama needs to work on that gas tank. Nice sub for "The Crippler." Bring on Wandy/Leben! Carwin touched Lesnar's chin... several times, & he survived... & then he subbed Carwin with an arm-triangle choke! Who the fuck saw that coming?! Brock looked goofy trying to get away from those strikes in the first (he needs to work on that). I thought it was over right there, but like Brock said, the more shots Shane threw, the slower & weaker they were. I can't wait for Lesnar/Velasquez... we know Cain won't blow his wad in the first round. |

I'm loving the response from all the die-hard Brock haters today. Most of them have conceded & are giving Brock respect. The rest are either saying Carwin got robbed & that the fight should have been stopped in the first round or that Carwin was a can all along.
I'm also loving everyone saying Brock's personality has changed. Brock is still the same cocky guy, but he only cranks it up to 11 when his opponent has done something to set him off (Herring's corner taunting Brock before their fight, Mir talking tons of shit before the rematch/the crowd relentlessly booing him). Brock was nothing but respectful after the Couture fight, same last night. Hopefully Cain talks some massive shit so you guys can have a reason to hate Brock again.
