Induction by Eric (Her 69 Eyes)
“I made my way to the Ring of Honor fan creations board in January of 2005. Those who were around at the time will remember the environment fondly – a glorious display of enthusiasm, innovation, and wonderfully entertaining contributions by the likes of Jack Jeckel and TR. It wasn’t long before I made friends with a fellow MV maker, Funky Monkey.
One day, I got ahold of a Hayabusa video by this guy AusDragon21. I was floored. I went raving to Funky Monkey about the video, and he asked me where i’ve been. He then sent me a copy of AusDragon’s Steve Corino vs. Homicide music video, and i’d consider it the single most influential music video on my editing career. I still get chills when I watch it to this day, and i’ll always strive to give my audience an emotional reaction as strong as AusDragon gave me. I’m afraid i’ll never accomplish it, nor will most. AusDragon is in a league of his own.
When you look back at videos from the 2005-2006 period, most of them don’t hold up. AusDragon is the exception. His pacing rivals the most innovative editors of today, from ltownbob and th3rd to J-Roc and beej, and his effects easily hold up with the best our board has to offer. Recently, Awesome Dude was billed as the best pure editor currently on the MV Zone, and rightfully so – but one could easily make the argument that AusDragon is the best pure editor in MV Zone history.
While AusDragon no longer visits our little community, his presence is felt through those who were around to experience his work. As an artist in this medium, AusDragon has been an unrivaled inspiration for me personally, and certainly a creative mind i’ll always admire. Welcome, AusDragon21, to the first class of The MV Zone Hall of Fame.”
