SWL was bringing up some suggestions to me in regards to our current board and the lack of features and professional look. I completely agree with the suggestions/observations, as we can only work within the confines of what ProBoards allows. 2.0 was phpBB, which was crazy customizable and infinitely more professional. If I can somehow find a way to migrate all of the 3.0 threads and posts to a phpBB forum, would you support a move to a newer, better forum with more features? Keep in mind that you would have to go through the registration process again.
Pros:
-more professional look
-access to pretty much any feature we can come up with
-no proboards ads
-new forum to go with new mainpage
Cons:
-re-registration
-possible loss of post count, etc.
-possible loss of less-frequent members to the site.
-if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I like this idea. I have seen some phpBB boards with a chatrooms, shops etc and it is more advanced as Proboards. I definately like the idea of MVZ 4.0, We can easily retain post count, and registration takes like 1 minute so it's fine. Losing less- frequent members would not happen, people that check the site now and than and people who are active will move to the new forum anyways. But, MVZone 4.0 is a great idea, hopefully others like this idea aswell. |

I completely forgot you took a stab at trying to fix things. There was an infection before you ever came in to play. Not your fault. |

In all seriousness, the only thing I don't like about this board is that they got rid of the birthday thingy... which I think we've all learned to live without.

It seems to be split down the middle in the poll results, which isn't good enough for such a big decision. In order to jump on it, I would want a pretty unanimous vote in favor.
I try to keep this board as engaging and appealing as possible to everyone who visits. While Proboards does limit a lot of what I can do, if anyone ever comes across a plugin that they would like added or have general suggestions about how to make things better, please don't hesitate to message me.
Also, I purchased TheMVZone.net. I think the feeling was that .net was as close to .com in terms of a professional URL as we could get. The .com sadly isn't an option anymore, so this was the next best bet.
I'm going to start building a new front page in the coming weeks. If anyone has suggestions or would like to help, just hit me up.
Lastly, if anyone would like to make a new MVZ video tag (like the one's th3rd used to make) now promoting TheMVZone.net, I would love you forever. *cough* @leelee *cough*

I agree with those that want to keep things the way they are as there isn't anything wrong, imo. I'll also try to create a new bumper for .net.

I haven't started anything yet...probably will tomorrow. I have an old wordpress account for MVZ that I'm using. It would be cool to have some opinions on what templates people like for the main page. When all of the initial stuff gets in place, I'll definitely need help with graphics, and probably some help posting videos and all that jazz...basically rebuilding the archives. |
