With just two days left in 2015, it's time to look ahead and cast our yearly predictions for 2016 in the wrestling world. But first, here's a look at some of the predictions from last year's thread.
Correctly Predicted:
beej
Who will have a breakout year? Charlotte.
Will TNA die...again? Nope. They are Immortal. (pun intended)
Will any big name indy/other promotion names be signed to WWE? Uhaa Nation
Maf
NXT continues to provide the best wrestling show
WWE Network numbers grow
No one will watch TNA
Brock Lesnar re-signs with WWE
Seth Rollins wins the title and has the MOTY
John Cena ends Rusev's Undefeated streak at Wrestlemania
Sting vs Triple H wrestlemania
Ally
Who will have a breakout year? I'm gonna say Kevin steen
Ben
How many superkicks will the Young Bucks throw? All of them.
Hilariously Incorrect:
Cesaro continues to cry himself to sleep at night. He requests his release, and tears it up on the indies. He heads to NJPW. -beej
Dolph Ziggler wins the Royal Rumble and main events Wrestlemania. -Maf
John Cena Heel Turn. -STS
Lana becomes a active diva we all know she's a trained wrestler so she needs to join the divas. -Ally
Reings' push will die out and he will be the face of the WWE midcard for years to come. -Ben
Will PWG continue to be the best American promotion? No -HRay
So what are your predictions for the new year? Any company is in play. The crazier the prediction, the better. Here's mine:
-Lesnar wins the rumble and goes on to lose to Reigns at Wrestlemania.
-Cena vs. Taker at Mania.
-Vince finally takes a backseat to Hunter and Steph. He is still around, but no longer wields ultimate authority on creative.
-CM Punk debuts at UFC 200.
-GSP makes his return defeating champ Robbie Lawler.
-TNA limps along, but finally dies. (I've been predicting this for at least 10 years)
-Okada defeats Tanahashi at WK10, hopefully ending the long-standing rivalry.
-Toru Yano continues to be the bane of my existence.
-PWG remains the best American wrestling company.
-While Finn Balor debuts, WWE stubbornly refuses to promote Samoa Joe due to their insane cosmetic issues.
-Cesaro returns from injury to a mild push, but returns to doing ridiculous jobs on Raw every week.
-Raw returns to a two hour format.
-Mauro Renallo starts off strong, but is ultimately broken and beaten into the typical "WWE" model of a commentator.
-JR gets a little too pervy on his podcast with a female interviewee and is forced to apologize.
-Kurt Angle joins NXT as a trainer and occasional on-air talent.
-Lana asks for (and is granted) her release from the company.
-The Young Bucks continue to thrive on the independents.
-Daniel Bryan returns to wrestling for WWE after being miraculously cleared after threatening to wrestle independently.
