The Harmonious Legion of Good Friends (beej & Bless)
Induction by CP0
When we think of The Harmonious Legion of Good Friends one thing always comes to mind and that is their passion for professional wrestling. While the duo were only active for 2 years, we were treated to some of the most memorable, creative and beautiful music videos in MVZone’s history. They are not only one of the great teams of the MVZone, but our biggest rivals (that we’ve never been able to defeat!)
Quickly before we move on to their induction speech, we’d like to take the time out to say thank you to The Good Friends for giving us some competition. Let’s face it the tag division doesn’t get much love, but the short time that we had facing The Good Friends was some of the most fun we’ve had editing. Let’s hope we can re kindle that rivalry one day!
Their love letter series is exactly what we meant by passion. I think a lot of us now don't have the same love for wrestling as we once did, but The Good Friends here take us on a ride and make us feel like we did when we first fell in love with wrestling. It felt like a huge thank you to professional wrestling for all the great memories, moments and matches that it has given us over the years.
How can we forget CP0’s two encounters with The Good Friends? First swiftly being destroyed by a video that was 18 months in the making entitled “Super Dragon's Guerrilla Hearts Club Band”. The idea behind it was genius as they flawlessly transition between the biggest PWG wrestlers from 2016. Each part offering something completely different and unique, they were not afraid to take risks. Our second match included everyone’s favourite boomer Jim Cornette and how much Jim hates anything that isn’t old school pro wrasslin’. We really thought we had them beat here, but once again The Good Friends proved why they have the most creative minds in the MVZone.
Let's not forget their Kenny Omega "Star" video which was a beautifully told story of Kenny Omega's journey replacing AJ Styles as the top guy and becoming "The Best Bout Machine". Some would call it the perfect video, we say it was 5 stars. The tone of this video was set perfectly from the start with fantastic use of text and color. Within the first minute they give you a grasp of his move set, his goals and the type of character he is. Furthermore, through the subtle use of text work it portrays the history of his achievements including match ratings, which seamlessly flowed into the next chapter of the story vs Kazuchika Okada. Ending on a strong note with a match recap calling back to the star overlay from earlier with use of voiceovers again which made Kenny look like a star even in defeat.
The beauty of this team didn’t just lie in making music videos, but they were genuinely Good Friends (if you couldn’t tell already). It was wholesome anytime beej would talk about Bless because it would always be positive things and how he thought Bless was one of the best editors on the site. We want to end by saying that The Harmonious Legion of Good Friends were not only rivals to us, but helped inspire us to continue making videos as a team and try and match that same amount of passion in our own videos. CP0 are proud to induct The Harmonious Legion of Good Friends in to the MVZone Hall of Fame, Class of 2020.
