Here at the MVZone many of us who have been around for a while have seen editors come and go. Personally, I’ve been watching MVZone videos since around 2008 and have been around the forum since 2010 and have watched hours upon hours of videos. There’s been a few guys that I always got excited about when I saw they released a new video and one of those guys was Rev. When it comes to creativity there’s not a lot of people who match what he’s able to come up with. Also, there’s not many editors out there who have been around as long as he has and have evolved the way he has. Apologies if I’m quoting the wrong person here but, I believe it was Pick who said that Rev is the Chris Jericho of The MVZone due to the way he’s been able to evolve over the years and adapt to the current standards of editing.
This past summer at the 15th Anniversary show Rev proved why my previous statements about him are true when he released “Diamonds Are Forever” where he covered the history of the most successful pro wrestling stable of the last decade: The Bullet Club to the soundtrack of multiple Rock Nation and G.O.O.D Music hits. Now before I talk about how incredible this video was I want to take a quick moment and recognize that Rev wasn’t facing just another editor in a random match in the middle of the card. This was in the Main event where he faced off against then MVZone World Champion Cheeze (the new goat) in a 3 stages of MVZ match where they both created 3 videos… who does that?! Who is capable of making a 10 minute CLASSIC video along side 2 other incredible projects?? Only Rev, thats who.
Now that you’ve all let me ramble for a bit let me actually talk about the video that’s being inducted here. As stated before, this video focused on the evolution of the Bullet Club which is an incredibly long and complicated history. Rev was able to structure this video by seamlessly going through each beneficial member of the faction, showing the transitions of power and betrayals in the clubs rich history while making everything connect effortlessly. Visually, this was the most impressive Rev’s work has ever been. He was able to compliment his usual crisp and clean editing with striking new age effects. Personally, my favorite part of this video was the small details such as Tama Tonga being synced up with Pusha T’s adlibs and Bad Luck Fale screaming “FUCK EM” also synced up with Push lyrics. While I’m on the subject of details, lets talk about how Rev did something that nobody else ever has in a singles mv match. This man had guest editors, that included many greats including HIS OPPONENT CHEEZE. Imagine putting your opponent on your video as a guest editor then taking his world title with that video, couldn’t be me.
I could go on for much longer about how incredible this video was. You know it’s a great video when it’s only been released since July and is being inducted into the Hall of Fame less than 6 months later. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again this is my favorite video to be released in the last 5 or so years and I’m happy to see it getting the recognition it deserves. Diamonds are forever and so is this work of art now that it has entered the Hall of Fame class of 2020!
