I was just reading some of the feedback on guys videos and wanted to discuss on this.
Don't want to stir up anything, but I do feel like alot of members here praise on a different form video editing and don't fully pay attention to some other styles(like mines for example). I understand the fact that this place has a different style, but some of you do turn off the members who don't exactly follow that same type of format you do. Now the guys I know here don't do that, but the ones that does it honestly shouldn't be saying that much cause they're not as talented as they think.
It could be said on other places, but I've never really felt so turned off being in this environment, cause I do feel like I have to pull off something besides a freestyle to really get your guys attention. Now I don't know your guys experiences visting other places that might focus on a different style, but I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. Just feel like we should do a better job on being more open to all styles. What are your opinions.

you mean say a wwe freestyle fast as all hell cut video compared to indy mv's attempting some story even with bad production to work with? ive done both, i enjoy both if they are entertaining. but alot are the same thing over and over. especially when its the same clips... i guess asking for an example would stir... so i wont ask.

I'm sorry but I just haven't seen many freestyles that I enjoy. I've seen a couple, but otherwise I just feel like it's editing overkill and off-the-wall random. It's like any MV. If it's done well, I enjoy it.

I think this board is more open to different styles now more so than ever. With guys like Styles, Roy, FBM, peanut, etc coming over and making a name for themselves through some terrific editing. That being said, they are experiencing a level of success because they all reach beyond the freestyle format.
I've tried to mix styles in my recent videos. I'm not trying to praise myself, but if you look at my last video on Vader, it contains classic MVZ styles of doing something "creative or different", then kicks into heavy editing to drive home the fact that Vader is not someone to mess with.
Also, I have been to other boards, but never stayed for long. The bias goes both ways, because on more than one occassion, I've felt almost chased off because my style was different. I've had people come to me and bash this site, call us "boring", and be downright disrespectful. I'm not sure what names you have in mind for people who don't pay attention to your style, but most of the people I've talked to on this board welcome it (especially lately).
I'm all for the entire spectrum of editing on this board...it makes things interesting- and I think we're achieving a nice mix lately. You have guys who are straight up creativity like Claymore, guys who are straight up editing like some of the new guys, and guys who mix styles (where I think a majority of us fall).
That being said, sorry if you've been offended leelee. I've always held your editing in high regard, and have always been a fan. So much so that I was recently expressing a desire to face you in a match sometime down the line (Bob and Harry can attest to this).

I can't speak for any of the other members of this site, but I'm a huge fan of your videos. I'll agree the freestyle type of video don't go over very well here because of lack of story or substance which I disagree with greatly. As Beej said though, every type of these sites come with a board bias. I'm sure if I were to go to the SFG community, I wouldn't be looked as high in quality as I am here. I still consider all those guys in high regard, and in a lot of cases higher than people on this board. I do hope to see a lot more crossover in future if the boards can get over their biases. Neither community is all that big. It'd seem smart to somewhat join forces.

I would be all for a merger. Just get a single host site (styles & ryan split costs), and then organize a board with SFG threads and MVZ threads. Competitions would include the entire site.
That way, we cut costs, raise membership numbers, raise interest, and lower drop-outs. Not to mention all of the new matches that could be made.

Whoa, a merger would bring some interesting stuff but then again it could be bad at the same time. People being biased on videos because they don't like that style is just one of the many problems it could bring.

There will never be "one board." I don't think there ever needs to be one board. People obviously have their own styles they like and that suit them, and that's just fine. I think it's cool to have some crossover though...which there is.

Yeah, a merger would lead to too many problems. However, I would like to see a MVZ vs SFG type of thing. Maybe a whole comp pitting our guys against them in several matches, or just a comp video, similar to Project Weezer.

Im a guy that really loves story telling. Thats why i cant make too many freestyles because i begin to get bored with them easily. I love to really put the emotion that the subject of the mv has for what they do. Per say when i made my kobe bryant music video. I tried to get into depth with what has gone on in kobe bryants life from his fall when the lakers missed the playoffs and his rape charges to his rebirth into his 4th nba championship. Thats what really attracts my attention.
I think a good example of a storytelling mv is th3rd's before they were stars. It really gives an extensive example of the journey of superstars in indy and developmental promotions into WWE.

I understand that my opinion isn't going to be that high, because I don't make MVz and often don't vote, which is mainly due to my comp not being able to really play the videos with out messing up the video flow. I try to watch each match, but once I can't view one of them the way it was intended, I can't vote.
HOWEVER, when I do vote I mainly look for two things.
1st and most importantly I want to watch a MV that makes me want to watch more of the match, show, wrestler, storyline, company. MV's should make me want to spend money or go out of my way to watch something.
2ndly I would like to get caught up in a story. This can be done in so many different ways, but basically I want a reason why I'm watching a clip at a certain part of the MV.
