Report: Nintendo 3DS stolen from Chinese production facilityJust as Nintendo was about to have a dedicated event to the new 3D handheld later this month, and 2 months before it's release, comes reports that a factory worker has stolen what appears to be a near final version of the unit from the distribution line and has posted pictures and video of it. EDIT: Although, the video has been taken down by the user, I'm sure you'll be able to find it in a couple of hours if you search for it on YouTube. The video has been described as showing off the unit close up, but not being able to run any retail games at the moment. Source: JoystiqTeam Meat's next game could land on handheldsAfter the enormous critical success of their latest game, Super Meat Boy, Co-creators Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes have made it perfectly clear that they are done developing platforming games. "We've farmed this. It's done. There's no more coming out of us," said McMillen in a recent interview with Game Informer. As to what their next project is going to be, is the question as the duo have not eluted what they are going to work on next but Refenes said it's "not like iPhone or anything," rand0m note: If you haven't played Super Meat Boy on XBLA or Steam, I highly recommend you do so. It's very challenging, but most importantly, it's fun. Give the demo a try and tell me what you thought of it. Source: JoystiqGears of War: Ultimate pops up on GameStop websiteIGN notes that a GameStop listing popped up over this past weekend of a new Gears compilation. No details are known at this time, but with the listing price of $30 I'm going to say it's a combo package of the first 2 Gears games with all of the DLC. The release date for the compilation is February 15th so it won't be long before we know what this Ultimate edition includes. Source: IGN

Call of Duty getting a 'Second Tier' Online Multiplayer offering?
Activision has been talking about new ways to "optimize" and "enhance" their top franchise's best mode for years, and they may have found said way. According to the analysts at Wedbush Securities, they believe that Activision is getting ready to reveal a new "tier" of Call of Duty online multiplayer within the next three months. No details have been given as to what this means, but one thing is for sure: it'll cost you. Source: Kotaku

Don't shake your 3DS! Or play it on a bus, or a train, or...
To those who have been skeptical of Nintendo's next handheld being a glasses-less 3D handheld, you're feelings may feel justified. Kid Icarus: Uprising director Masahiro Sakurai tweeted that if you move the handheld and holding the handheld away from it's "sweet spot", you will have issues with the 3D effects. First came news that kids under 6 shouldn't use the 3D effects because it can effect their vision, and now this? Sure, you can just turn off the 3D effect with the slider on the side of the handheld, but if you're not using the 3D on the 3DS, then why buy it? I'm starting to become a little skeptical of the 3DS, maybe when I actually use it will my worries go away, but right now it's not exactly looking good as one would hope. In the wake of Viacom letting go Harmonix comes a report from the Wall Street Journal that investment group Columbus Nova bought the developer for $49.99. It's really sad to see a developer that 2 years ago was one of the hottest in the industry fall this hard. While we can never count out anyone, it's going to be some time before we see any type of resurgence for the music rhythm game genre being as popular as it once was. Source: IGN

YAY!
I'm on the fence with Bulletstorm. It's either going to be really good, or it's going to be good for like 2 months and then no one is going to play it anymore.
Off topic, Vyper, how is NBA Jam? I've read alot of reviews for the 360/PS3 version saying that the online mode is broken and that the definitive version of Jam is on the Wii.

Jam is awesome. It's just as fun as it was nearly 20 years ago. The new Remix tour is challenging, the new modes are great, & there are a shit ton of unlockable players, balls, cheats, etc (there are few things in this world more satisfying than dunkin' on Sarah Palin's dumbass). Online is perfectly fine... only complaint is everyone chooses the Heat.
You may not wanna pay $50 for it, but it's definitely worth renting or picking up used. If they had released it as a DLC title, it would've been Downloadable Game of the Year for 2010.

Nintendo is currently holding the Nintendo 3DS event here in the states, and ALOT of news is coming from it. I would be more than happy to share everything that's going on, but the way it's been updating I will never be on top of it all to cover. So, instead I'll let the fellows at Kotaku do my work...that I was going to copy from them.

Duke Nukem Forever gets an official release date! No seriously!Gearbox announced today that DNF will be hitting store shelves on May 3rd. Not only that, but they brought along a new trailer! 'The Walking Dead' based game coming soon from Telltale?Weird right? But, that's apparently the rumor going around the many gaming websites today. In mid-February, Telltale will be holding an event to debut five new games, one being "based on a just-launched property from the TV and comic book world whose popularity is changing life as some know it." First off, happy to see you back Atomsk.
I heard about the MGS HD rumor on Hard News yesterday, and was pretty shocked. But, as I told my brother, I had a feeling we would be seeing at least the first MGS to get an HD remake, but not all 3. Maybe by E3 we'll know more?
I'm very excited for L.A Noire. Especially coming right off the heels of Red Dead Redemption. The only thing I'm worried about is the gameplay. They haven't shown any gameplay videos (that I know of) and maybe that's a sign that it's going to be along the lines of Heavy Rain than RDR. But they're still time.

Thanks.
I haven't been in touch with video game news as-of-late, as NumbThumbs was shut down and I didn't have internet for over a month, so I have no idea what L.A. Noire is.
I checked Kotaku, and found this neat little feature. I'll definitely be getting it with Move when it comes out:

Sorry to hear that. I'm positive you'll land on your feet somewhere else man. L.A. Noire is alot like Heavy Rain, just minus all of the depressing crap. Like I said, I haven't seen any gameplay yet, which leads me to believe that it could have some type of quick time button events to get the big scenes over and have the usual get to point A driving like in GTA. That's at least what I'm guessing. Yoostar sounds interesting. If it pays off, it could usher in a new genre. Thanks.
