I can't get Sing Street out of my head. It's so wonderful in all the ways that I love movies. This is "Garden State" / "(500) Days of Summer" levels of greatness to me. Could be the first time in years to make it's way into my all-time top ten. When you posted your first top 10 of the year I was honestly surprised that wasn't on the list. I had a feeling it would be right up your alley.

Then I saw it ranked pretty highly on your list, so I watched...and subsequently fell in love.

Passengers.
Cool concept. Completely falls apart in the 3rd act.

Tickled.
I heard a lot of buzz about this earlier last year, and decided to give it a watch after a conversation with Reed. Creepy. Fascinating. Amazing.

La La Land - I liked it well enough. But I must admit it isn't one of my favorite movies of 2016. I found it charming, but never truly rapturous (as all of the best musicals are). I had a similar reaction to "Whiplash" in terms of enjoying it but never truly being sucked in. So maybe Damien Chazelle's sensibilities just don't jive with my own. Or maybe I just spent the whole movie thinking Ryan Gosling's character wasn't good enough for Emma Stone(she's really great in this movie). But I'm glad it was made. Maybe it's success will open the doors for more (and better) films like it.

Split.
I really dug this. M. Night Shamwow is back into form, surprisingly. Tense, interesting - with a wonderful performance(s) from McAvoy.
There is a stinger pre-credits that ruins things a little...in my opinion.

Logan.
It's everything you've heard it is.

Logan. It's everything you've heard it is. I cried in the theater. What a beautiful send off after 17 years.

Logan - I liked it. I'm not sure it's really the genre-redefining product it was hyped as, but that's not the movie's fault. It is a step in the right direction, though. And as a standalone movie, taken on it's own merits, it's very good. Mostly it's the little details that separate it from other movies of this ilk. Like a phone's battery dying right in the middle of an important video. Or when they try to drive straight through a fence, but the fence doesn't cooperate. These things do more to ground the film's reality outside of MCU-style fantasy than all the F-bombs and R-rated gore. Even setting it mostly in rural areas, and avoiding the usual destruction of large urban areas allows it to feel fresh.

After sitting with it for a few days, I have a somewhat controversial opinion.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 surpasses the first one.

Wonder Woman was amazing I had a blast. That war scene was probably the best action scene I've ever watched.
