The MV Zone has seen three incarnations since 2005. Due to a multitude of problems, we've continuously had to build from the ground up. We can't rely on anyone to maintain the website long-term - our young lives are too unpredictable, and the effort is too daunting and thankless.
For this reason, myself and a few MV Zone regulars have decided that we're going to fool proof the website as much as possible. When our server expires on July 14th, we're going to remotely host both our message board and our website. This means that, going forward, our server will only be used to store music videos.
How does this effect you? It doesn't. We'll lose customization options, but we work within templates regardless. In fact, we're going to make an effort to involve our audience more - members who request them will be given authoring accounts so that they can add their own work to the main page, provided that they stick within our guidelines. Ideally, our main page will be healthier than ever before, if only because authors will be able to submit work without first receiving moderator approval (submitted work will still be policed, obviously).
But here is the biggest change to The MV Zone 4.0, which has been proposed by HJASkater.
We're going to attempt to promote our website as a service.
Over the years, several of our editors have been contacted by independent wrestlers - both big names and small - to create video content. The leading example would be Chris Hero. On our new webpage, we will add a designated classifieds section in which independent wrestlers will be able to go, browse through advertised editors, and select an editor that best suits their needs. Editors will be able to get work, and wrestlers will be able to easily acquire highlight packages from talented artists. Once this new innovation launches, we will re-promote the site on a number of podcasts in an attempt to bring independent wrestlers to us.
Along with our branding change, we will be switching servers. Ryan Ingram, who has selflessly paid for our website for the past 5 years, is leaving us. The monetary commitment is now on our shoulders. We will be looking at somewhere between four and seven dollars a month, depending on the package we use. If you are willing to donate anything, your contributions would go exclusively to server costs. We hope we can continue providing the best wrestling music video content on the web indefinitely.
If you'd like to support us but you can't donate, reply to this thread or send me a personal message. We're going to have a lot of work to do archiving hundreds of videos from the past and present of the MV Zone.
We don't intend to switch boards, but we will provide warning ahead of time if it is a necessity.
Stay tuned - our tentative launching date for The MV Zone 4.0 is July 14th.
Thanks,
The MV Zone Staff
