SPOILERS FUCK Anderson. Such an ass. He's an amazing fighter, so graceful and used to be one of my favorites. He's making a joke of the entire sport. At least Maia showed some heart in the fifth.
Also, congrats to Frankie. I had BJ winning, but he certainly was competitive with BJ, which is probably the first time since...2002? 50-45 is a complete joke though..

LoL... Anderson/Leites II! Standing: Anderson kills him. On the ground: Anderson kills him. Hopefully, for the internet MMA diehards sake, Anderson comes in motivated so we can get this over as quickly as possible. PS: Doesn't matter to me, I can watch "boring" Anderson all day long. Foot punches FTW! ^I called it^ I don't blame Anderson at all... why should he give a shit when they keep putting him in there with guys that refuse to fight. Those first 3 rounds were entertaining as hell to me, though. Props to Frankie. Nobody gave him a chance & he fought an incredibly smart fight. Now let him avenge his loss to Maynard.

Yeah right, why should he knock the guy out which he could have easily done in every second of that fight, instead of making a complete joke out of the whole division yet again, making the fans regret paying money for the show or the tickets, completely ruining the new Abu Dhabi market, ruining the GSP fight everybody wanted to see etc.

Those aren't his problems.
For the record, I don't blame any fans for hating Anderson right now. They've got every right.
Dana White & Joe Silva on the other hand, should have known better than to sign this fight, especially after Anderson/Leites.

His display in round 2 was ridiculous. Maia might not have been throwing bombs at him but he wasn't outright not trying to fight on his feet, he was just tentative in closing the distance as anybody in his situation would be. Instead of showboating like that and making a big hissy fit that your opponent fears your stand-up so he isn't engaging, just fucking go in and end the fight seeing as you know you can. There was little fear that Anderson would be KO'd so he really had no excuse not to. If he's so disrespectful of people not engaging, he wasn't either even in the first couple of rounds. Yeah, he hit some flashy stuff, but he never actually went with anything that was intended to end the fight. He hit a knee and I think that it was more Damien playing possum and going down to the ground hoping that Anderson would follow him rather than the knee actually knocking him down. Outside of that, nothing. When you're supposed to be the P4P best fighter in the world and the champion of the division, it was a pathetic display.
Maia did go for broke at times in the final round and managed to close the distance trying to secure a takedown, but in the end that's where he failed and he could've done more in the final round in my opinion. His gameplan was always going to be survival on the ground and picking opportunistic moments to shoot for a takedown. He should've done more in the final rounds but he was busted up and couldn't breathe out of his nose and could only see out of one eye, so there's only so much you can do. It's not like he literally fell to the ground and tried to pull guard every 30 seconds like Lietes did, he actually attempted to fight Anderson standing up and did what he could in that position where he had a huge disadvantage.
As for BJ, there had to be something up with his knee that prevented his mobility and hurt his training. He never looked explosive or dangerous in the fight. Not taking anything away from Frankie Edgar, but it wasn't a definitive win for him. He put on a good performance though. 50-45 was hilarious. At least it shakes up the division a bit!

Maia went for broke my ass. He engaged like twice, only cause he knew if he didn't he'd get shit-canned like Leites.
Everybody knows what they're getting with Anderson... putting him in there with a BJJ grappler who can't strike for shit is just asking for trouble.
I agree that the 50-45 Frankie got was rediculous, but I do think he did enough to win the fight. BJ looked like he didn't wanna be there & didn't push the pace like he usually does. It'll probably come out sooner or later that he was injured or sick or something.

Maia didn't do more because he just couldn't, he was not good enough. Anderson didn't do more because he's a dipshit. Big difference.

Maia went for broke my ass. He engaged like twice, only cause he knew if he didn't he'd get shit-canned like Leites. He was striking from his knee's with one eye and a broken nose against the most feared striker in the entire UFC. He could've certainly done more but he definitely tried and did his all his stand-up ability would allow him to do against an Anderson Silva that's running around the ring.

That was hardly going for broke... more like desperately trying to defend himself as he was falling down.
I say FUCK MAIA. He came in with no gameplan. He knew what he was getting himself into & didn't come prepared.
