I recently started going out with a girl I've considered to be my best friend for the last 2 years.
I used to have a big crush on her in 2007, and probably talked about it on the original boards, but she was always very shy when we met up and it led to many awkward dates and things just never worked out. We got on wonderfully online and were at complete ease, but unfortunately she couldn't translate her wit and charm to me in person. We always remained friends and kept talking, but she started going out with somebody and - magically - she was able to talk to me with confidence! And from there we blossomed a wonderful friendship. But about 2 months ago, she broke up with her boyfriend, for reasons I'm actually not sure about as I'm not the type of person that will pry for information and will rather let my friends tell me what they wish, although I believe he got the "I just don't want a relationship right now" excuse unfortunately.
Anyway, we were out for her birthday at the end of January and she was verrrrrrrry drunk. I really don't like being sober around my friends when they're embarassingly drunk, and this was worse as she was acting differently towards me, like putting her legs over mine when we were sitting down, which she NEVER does. Then on February 13th my friend had a small party and I noticed her becoming every so slightly more friendly towards me. This is exceptionally hard to describe because she's not an overtly flirtatious person and I only noticed it because I know her idiosyncrasies while nobody else really noticed. But yeah, we kissed. We hooked up. WE HOOKED UP THE DAY BEFORE VALENTINES DAY. I'm a regular Ryan Howard.
Nah it was fine. Me, her and another friend had a date planned for Valentines Day for a while and there was no awkwardness about it. We didn't actually talk about it for a couple of days until we met up to go to the theatre and see a play. I stayed over at her flat and we did A BIT MORE THAN HOOKING UP, IF YA FEEL ME BROTHERS. And yeah, we're going out We discussed her break up with her ex and she opened up a lot to me about troubles they were having and how she never really settled into the relationship. We kept things quiet for a couple of weeks before telling all out close friends, because they knew how we used to feel about each other and since then things between all of us have changed and it might have been ill received, but thankfully everybody was thrilled! Tomorrow is actually our one month anniversary, although I think I've only seen her three times in that month, haha.
I'm not sure how I'll transition from the best friend relationship to girlfriend relationship, I think it'll be quite tough for me personally just because it's been for a long time and I honestly haven't had those type of feelings for her for years, simply because I knew/expected that it couldn't go anywhere. This is somebody that I've discussed all my past relationships at great length, including big physicological fears I have about myself when in relationships, so I have no idea what she's doing because she should know that I will no doubt irrationally dump her in 3 weeks.
