What a beat down. Vick is playing at a level that I never thought I'd see from him.
Right now, he's by far the front runner for MVP.

Right now, he's by far the front runner for MVP. How dare you! Rivers is putting up great numbers, but right now Vick is dancing circles around every team he plays. Not only is he able to run like we've come to expect, but now he's become...a pocket quarterback! Plus, San Diego is in an uphill battle to win the AFC West. Now is usually the time when they make a run. But will it be too late? KC & Oakland aren't going to go away quietly. I don't remember a player on a *potential* non playoff team win the MVP. I'm gonna look that up, but off the top of my head I can't think of any.

Valid points, but you gotta take into account how SD's receiving corp has been so far. We've been without our leading WR from last year, Vincent Jackson, and have gradually lost the next top 3 WR's to injuries over the past few games. Rivers has been throwing to an injured Antonio Gates (though an injured Gates is still better than most of the starting TE's around the league), a relatively new-to-the-team Patrick Crayton, backup TEs, and guys picked up from free agency or the practice squad. Vick has had two top WRs in Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin to throw to. I think the only thing holding Rivers back from being a shoo-in for MVP is San Diego's record. SD would have a winning record had it not been for our shitty Special Teams play. Pretty much all our games, including KC and Oakland, were lost due to our STs (though I'll still give KC and Oak credit). As of right now, I'd say Vick gets the edge for having a winning team, but Rivers is not too far behind. Don't forget he's on pace in breaking Dan Marino's single season record, and he usually does better when the Chargers' backs are against the wall. Expect Rivers to make an even bigger case during the 2nd half. And we're only one game behind KC and Oak, so I say its still far from over. As long as special teams can get their act together, the division is ours. If history repeats itself like it has in the last few years, Chargers are going to heat up in the 2nd half of the season and prove why they're Super Bowl Contenders, while the rest of the AFC West crumbles apart. That ends my rant.

If history repeats itself like it has in the last few years, Chargers are going to heat up in the 2nd half of the season and prove why they're Super Bowl Contenders, while the rest of the AFC West crumbles apart. That ends my rant. It seems like every year someone is on pace to beat Marino's record. I wonder if that's because of the rules involving WRs down field that causes guys to have astronomical numbers every year. In fact, earlier this year Kyle Orton was on pace to beat it. But I think he's more worried about losing the starting job right about now. You've got a point. For Rivers to have such great numbers with his team basically falling apart is a feat unto itself. Gates has a tear in his right foot that NEEDS surgery. So for him to still go out there is really gutsy. Is it really 1 game? It seemed like it was a lot more a couple of weeks ago. Their schedule is really favorable to them. Week 11 - Denver Week 12 - @ Indianapolis Week 13 - Oakland Week 14 - Kansas City Week 15 - 49ers Week 16 - @ Cincinnati Week 17 - @ Denver 4 out of the last 7 games are a home so that helps out alot. I can see them rolling over Denver twice and the 49ers/Cincinnati should be in the bag before halftime. I don't know about the Indy game though, it's the same scenario the Chargers are in, but when you have No. 18 at QB, you will always be favored. Then the Oakland/KC games are going to be dog fights. Oakland does have the better defense of the two, and their secondary is really coming alive these past couple of weeks. Chiefs are a weird team, in that you don't know what they are doing to be successful, but their winning so that's all that matters. Both of those games are really going to push SD to their limits. Regardless, it should be a great 2nd half of the season for every team in contention for playoff spots. To say this first part of the season has been lackluster would be an understatement.

ESPN's 30 for 30 series wrapped up it's series this past Saturday with "Pony Excess" which is about the SMU Mustangs and the rise and fall of the program after receiving what was called the "Death Penalty" which was the team's football program being suspended for 2 years. Not so bad right? They could bounce back in 2-5 years, build some kind of foundation and starting winning again....well they didn't. They went on to have only one winning season in the span of 20 years. It's one of the best in the series and I totally recommend it to everyone.
The 30 for 30 series has been some of the best documentaries I've seen, and each documentary build my enthusiasm higher and higher. Sure, some were better than others, but most of them have been fantastic. Then I saw this commercial during the Pony Excess episode and this could be the best one in the series. I know it's not even going to come out this year, but if you know the story then you will probably have the same conclusion I've already made:
As soon as they have a date for this episode, I will let everyone know.

LeBron. Heeling it. Tweets after the Cavs got blown out by the Lakers:
"Crazy. Karma is a bitch".
It's safe to assume he's embracing the "villain" role pretty well ;D

Personally, I'm cheering for the team that doesn't have a rapist playing quarterback for them.
